Mattia Liberali is also a candidate for a starting spot against Hellas Verona, after making his Serie A debut in the previous round against Genoa.
Calciomercato.com speak of a ‘golden moment’ for Libareli, which has come at the same time as some rumours about his future. Fiorentina and Atalanta are keeping an eye on the developments, given that his entourage were not happy with the way he was managed in the first part of the season.
Liberali has movement, vision and technique that is not only well above those who are the same age as him but probably already worthy of Serie A. This season, after impressing with Ignazio Abate’s Primavera, the idea was to see him grow into a permanent fixture with Milan Futuro.
However, he got little playing time because Daniele Bonera struggled to find a place for him in his usual system. The 17-year-old has been a starter in the league for four out of 19 games plus one in the Coppa Italia Serie C. To get minute, Liberali was ‘relegated’ to the Primavera.
From the summer tour with the first team where he shone, to struggling with the Futuro, down to the Primavera and then immediately up to starting against Genoa. Liberali’s season is a succession of contrasting emotions, a ‘rollercoaster’ that opens up reflections on his handling.
While Liberali’s head is already on a possible chance against Verona, some balance is needed to help him grow. The qualities to do well are there but the club must be patient with him and stop the extremes of his deployment.
In the background, the directors must tackle the relating to the renewal of Liberali’s contract expiring in 2026. The agents of the teenager class are waiting for a call to start talking about projects and future prospects, while perhaps taking calls from other clubs.
Good player, but I don’t think he’s ready for a regular starting spot (unlike Jimenez).
Daniel Bonera was s*** as a player and now even worse as a coach 🤦.
Ignazio Abate was the best choice for the Futuro but was sacked by Z.
The project is stagnant 😭
Yep, and now he’s got Ternana in 1st place the same Serie C group as Futuro. Meanwhile, we’re looking around from potential replacements for Fonseca, and Bonera is getting Futuro relegated. Imagine if Abate been given Futuro. Impossible to tell if they’d be in first, but good chance they’d being doing better than they are now, and he would have continued with many of the players he had in the Primavera, AND he’d be a good candidate to replace Fonseca, if at least “on trial” until the end of the season if it came down to it. And Abate was a Milan academy product himself. Oh the irony!
Why not try Liberali as a RW ? Chuk isnt doing much any way. Liberali should be Pulisic back up in my opinion.
How Bonera can continue to coach Milan Futoro is beyond me. He is suppose to develop our biggest talents, not bench them. Hes is as sh*itty as a coach as he was as a player. Zlatan needs to get his head out of his *ss.
The long list of players to have improved under both coaches (Bonerror and Ayyy) continue to grow every so rapidly (sarcasm btw)
Add Fonseca to the list.
Play the kid and let him develop as with Bartesaghi and Jimenez. At least that will some achievement this season.
Hopefully, we shall also be rid of this American ownership and all of Mr Cardinales cronies.
We absolutely cannot sell this talent, I’m not saying he’s the next coming of Messi but he has potential to be a v good no.10, is homegrown and we desperately need homegrown players if only for the UEFA squad list quota.
Is he ready to be a regular in the 1st XI ? No not quite. But give him minutes, and I could see him+ Jimenez + Camarda being very useful players for us in the coming seasons.
The problem is that players think they are better than they are. He may become a player ready to start for a top team in a couple of years, but not now. Young players are impatient. Best case is to loan him out to a lower level Seria A team with the condition he extends his contract. Or, sell him with a buy back clause.
Based on his pre season performanace, i feel Liberali has the mentality and talent required to be a good player. However, he still needs to grow physically as well as gain more experience. That is why he should be a starter for Furturo regardless of the team’s standing in the league table. The same goes for Torriani and Camarda.
Recruit Ten Hag or Klopp or Mancini, forgeted it Fonseca or Allegri
Yeah, let the kid go to Atalanta. It’s not like that team has managed to get anything out of Milan rejects, right? 🙂
