Lazio 2-2 AC Milan: SempreMilan watchalong and live updates

AC Milan are taking on Lazio at Stadio Olimpico this evening and it’s a must-win, following two disappointing games to start the season. Below, you can follow the action with our live updates, as found on our X profile.

The Rossoneri have clinched just one point so far and the performance against Parma was worrying to say the least. A clear response is needed in tonight’s game, therefore, and it remains to be seen if Paulo Fonseca will succeed this time out.

Some interesting changes have been made to the starting eleven, as you can see below, and this has certainly got the discussion going among the fans. Below, you can follow the action live with the updates from our X profile.

  1. One of the weakest lineups I remember in years.

    Complete madness.

I hope we won’t pay dearly against the hated Nazio.

  2. Fonseca-ball all over the pitch! What a great manager for Acmilan….all thanks to the mighty ibrahimovic who won all there is in football, from world cup, to the champions league to balloon d’or…and the great Moncada who in his sleep can identify the next Pele, maradona and Johan Cruyff combined….Acmilan has become more than sonic the hedgehog all sparkling and no *******…

    1. Physical attacking threat, finishing with feet or head. Pressing cover swapping with Chukwueze on the right. Attacking movement and finding space is good – that’s why you notice him lose it, he’s often in a good position to receive it.

Trade off is lack of imagination, creativity or intricate passing.

      1. In reality he just runs in the box as a SS and scores once in a blue moon. Okafor or Reijndeers would be so much better there.

        1. He should have got to that Puli cross. Okafor and Puli so far are looking like the only ones able to drive the play ahead. Loftus had to score that…

  3. I like the fact that the team play uniform football and move the ball around so well without depending on a single player.

    Still hoping for a win.

Emerson and RLC are not doing much

  4. We have been much better so far, its nice to see a determent group of players, however the inverted left back is rough to watch, Taccericano play more towards his own goal than the opposition and we clearly lacking a player up top, maybe Abraham will change that

  5. I give him credit for dropping leap and theo when they were god awful and lazy last week, but his other choices are still questionable. We look very sloppy in Play, and his constant insistence to play Terraciano(a right winger) at left back instead of giving bartesaghi a chance is baffling. Props to Pavlovic for making an immediate impact in the squad

  6. Teraciano so far is solid. He seems like he will fit better in the mid of the pitch tho, like a defensive mid rather than full back.

  7. Goodbye Fonseca. So was this really cheaper than just paying more for a better coach? You end up having to do it anyway…good job.

    1. If we sack Fonseca, we’ll be paying his wages + Pioli wages + whoever our new manager is.

Which is easily expensive enough to have outbid Juve for Motta in the first place. But then again Motta would not have come to a club that signs rejects like Emerson Royal by choice.

      1. @Krayson it’s cheaper than missing out on Europe next season.
Management should haven’t panic and get Fonseca they should have wait for Conceição

  8. Fonseca has no idea how to organize a defense, that much has been clear. Relying on the new signing to keep making mind blowing saves will not get us anywhere. Emerson was 5 miles to far up, and then might as well have been a traffic cone on the 2nd, and no communication between anyone else. What is the gameplan? Absolutely Horrendous tactical display…

  9. Milan is a club in total confusion. I honestly wouldn’t be at all surprised if we found out one day that these Americans at RedBird let the club be run by AI 😆😆

        1. I’m saying the substitutions paid off. And Abraham already has an assist. I think we still need to tighten up our game nonetheless.

    1. Not abuse, it was necessary. Probably the only good decision Fonseca has mad thus far. They were lazy last week, so bench them. And make them earn the minutes

  10. Terracciano is an absolute disaster. A player with no quality, no talent, a player of extraordinary mediocrity. I don’t see him as a Serie B player either. How the hell did this boy end up in Milan? It’s clear that our scouting department is a disaster.

      1. And he’s conceded none so far over there, where Emerson conceded 2. Relax you plastics, he’s a RW getting shoved into defense, usually on his weak side. What’re you expecting to happen

        1. aside from a little spill Maignan cleaned up, Terraciono played a good game. Royal was lack explosiveness in his 1 on 1 runs. Definitely not quick enough. Kalulu has quicker feet than him. He still did alright up the pitch to press. But his recovery speed isn’t enough to match pace. Hopefully he can improve and it is an early season conditioning issue. But he still didn’t do bad. Tomori should have cleared the cross on the second. He definitely should have slid that to block and play it to safety after Emerson didn’t recover. Pavo lost his man abd looked abit gassed on that segment. Given the amount of blocks, recoveries and transitions he helped create after recovering possession, it is understandable he was missing a bit of speed to react on that. I have Tomori and Royal failing their assignments on that goal.

  11. Milan is the team who have conceded most goals (6, maybe more, match still going on) in the league with Atalanta and Lecce.
    That’s worrying

  12. We’re conceding from the left flank for two matches in the row. All of Lazio’s chances this night came from their left flank. It’s becoming a pattern all teams will exploit. And Emerson should be named Lazio’s MVP tonight.

  13. I swear on God I don’t understand the insistence with which our management wanted Emerson Royal when it was clearly known what a disaster of a player he was at Tottenham…

    1. You asked about Terraciano above; now about ER. Both have something in common: they are cheap. Cheap mercato, cheap coach, cheap Ibra. 2 points after 3 games. What else did you expect? To win the UCL?

  14. Fonseca is worse than Pioli…with this performance he should be sacked. I think Kalulu would be laughing right now at his replacement Emerson….lol

    1. People here did not believe me when I said that Milan’s main issue was not Pioli, but the crappy players. How on earth can you have the super lazy RLC as a CAM?

  15. Theo is fat . He “runs” like an old fat lady. This comportment is so unprofessional…
It’s crystal clear, this club is not run properly. It’s no leadership, no authority, no planning, no strategy , no vision, no nothing… This is an absolute disaster, a bad joke, just panic mode and improvisation. This season will be a true nightmare. #RedBirdout ! Yankees go home !

  16. Fonseca will not survive too long and with this rate it will be a miracle for Milan to even qualify for champions league next season….I am wondering how come lille was so good defensively last year….God we really messed up big time not only in transfer market but coach wise as well…..one of the worst start to the season and all what is left is good drubbing god forbid by inter or any other side and this coach is done…..

  17. Fonseca OUT! can’t wait for his excuse this time….maybe a different lineup for game 4….Liverpool and Inter wait….while we suffer…that is our motto “learn to suffer”

  18. Trust… these players given the right instructions and formation would do well. Look at some of the other teams in the league they have a style of play that they are known for..they stick to it. Tweak their style in game, in response to the opposition as and when needed, then continue to play their own game…their formation and style of play. This team is all over the place and that’s is squarely on the coach. No style of play nothing whatsoever…it’s an eye sore to watch Milan play like this all because they refused to invest in a better coach.

  19. Maconda shouldn’t be head of scout. Milan need another head of technical directors. Furlani isn’t the man.
Milan as a whole heading the right direction but management needs to make some unpopular decisions higher up. We kept missing out on talents every season and settle on bums. Maldini messed up but he wasn’t all the way wrong. Cardinal need to learn from Liverpool and Roma running the club like Ted Boehly will ruin the club.
