While a lot of the rumours concern AC Milan’s next head coach and sporting director, the CEO is a critical appointment too.
Gerry Cardinale did not wait around long after Milan’s defeat to Cagliari on Sunday night which consigned them to a Europa League place. Less than 24 hours after the game he sacked Massimiliano Allegri, Igli Tare, Geoffrey Moncada and Giorgio Furlani.

Furlani’s departure means that a new Chief Executive Officer is needed, which is one of the most important roles at a football club. It seems as though Massimo Calvelli is helping Cardinale with the casting process for that, and now a new name has come forward.
Edwards emerges
Meanwhile, Carlo Pellegatti has spoken on his YouTube channel about the latest news that is coming out of Casa Milan regarding the plans for the future. His words have been relayed by MilanNews.
“Yesterday Cardinale met with Ibrahimovic to plan the new AC Milan. It will be a complete revolution, and among the names there probably won’t even be an Italian,” he said.
“Now I’ll tell you everything, from the presidency on down: Scaroni will be removed from his sporting responsibilities, so the league will probably no longer be seen, but his activity will only be the stadium. I don’t know whether he will be removed from the presidency or not.

Sky recently reported that Edwards is expected to remain at Liverpool, even though he only has a contract for another season. Interestingly, he is FGS’s (Fenway Sports Group) Head of Football rather than just working for the Premier League side, and RedBird own shares in FSG.

Txiki Begiristain is the best in the business but always follows Guardiola. Maybe if Guardiola takes some time off he can be lured to Milan. But feels like a dream….
Begiristain is also used to having deep pockets backing him, so not sure how he’ll do with a limited budget.
