Reports: Loan ‘only way possible’ for Chelsea striker to join Milan due to €50m price

Fabrizio Romano has seemingly confirmed that Italy is a possible destination for Nicolas Jackson, amid links with AC Milan.

In previous years when Milan have needed a reinforcement in a particular position they have often turned to Chelsea. The signings of Tiemoue Bakayoko, Fikayo Tomori, Christian Pulisic, Olivier Giroud and most recently Christopher Nkunku are a testament to the good relations between the clubs.

In the 2026 summer transfer window, things might not be any different. Jackson has been linked with a move to Milan by many different sources already, but perhaps the most credible came from Sky Germany on Wednesday as they mentioned the Rossoneri as a suitor.

Jackson an opportunity?

As a reminder, the former Villarreal star is on loan with an option to buy at Bayern Munich. However, the figure was set at over €60m which always made a permanent deal seem unlikely, so now his agent is putting things in place ahead of the summer.

In words quoted on X from Romano’s latest YouTube video, the transfer reporter gave an update on Jackson: “There is interest from Italy [in Nicolas Jackson], but for Italian clubs, the only way possible is a loan deal.

“There is interest from Premier League as well. One year ago, Villa and Newcastle were interested. Let’s see if these clubs will appear again.”

Meanwhile, Gianluca Di Marzio spoke in an interview on TMW about the future of the Senegal international, suggesting the current asking price rules the Diavolo out.

“And then there’s Nicolas Jackson, who was loaned to Bayern on somewhat unusual terms last year, with a high loan fee, over €15 million, and a very high buy-out option to act as Kane’s deputy.

“Now he will return to Chelsea at the end of his loan, Bayern will not buy him and his agents are also talking about it with Italian teams, but today the conditions are not there to take him on loan.

“The request that Chelsea are making is 50 million euros, today spending 50 million for Nicolas Jackson is not in my opinion in the plans of Juventus and much less of Milan, so we will have to wait for the transfer market to start.”

    1. Same old same old. We’re not even in summer yet and this is already starting. I have a bad feeling about this transfer window. This summer to me will show the real ambition of these guys. Are we Dortmund 2.0 or are we Da’ Milan? Fans don’t spend their hard earned money to watch Milan finish 4th or 3rd every year. The fans have been patient but this is a do or die season coming up.
