Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s future is being heavily discussed currently, with the Englishman out of contract with AC Milan next summer.

If Milan wanted to part ways with Loftus-Cheek, they would have to do so now. Ultimately, he is entering the final year of his deal and the midfielder’s value is only going down. That is, of course, unless he renews his deal.

There has been a bit of talk about those discussions, but little has come up since. In fact, the most recent suggestions were that he could leave this summer, with no movement yet. Put simply, not a positive sign that talks are ongoing.

Of course, they could be in the background, but he is not a certainty for next season.

Loftus-Cheek discusses Allegri and injury

This season has been difficult for the Englishman; it cannot be denied. He has been unlucky with injuries and others have been played ahead of him when he has been fit. Nevertheless, he has not complained and when speaking to Serie A (via MilanPress), this remained the case.

The injury…

“It’s a collision that can happen; we were both going for the ball. Corvi then texted me after the game, I appreciated it: I told him these things can happen. The worst is over and now I’m happy. I’m pain-free and I can eat normally.

“I trained alone for a while, but I’m fit. I had to avoid collisions and that’s why I didn’t train with the group. Now I’m back and I’ll have the bite for the game, I’m sure.”

His absence in the last big matches…

“It’s not easy when there are big games and you can’t play, especially like the Derby. All eyes are on San Siro. It’s part of the sport; there will always be an important game you can’t play. I supported my teammates; it went well against Inter, but not so much against Lazio.”

His relationship with Allegri…

“The coach pushes us a lot. What we asked for at the start of the season was clear: we can’t always achieve our goals. He’s playful, but he knows how to put pressure on us when necessary. We have a relationship of mutual respect, and above all, we both want to win.”

His season…

“Unfortunately, I haven’t been very consistent this year, playing in different positions, so you always have to be ready to change your approach depending on the role. I’m used to this versatility: my physical attributes help, and I just want to help the team.”

Personal and team goals…

“My personal goal is more collective than anything else. The personal goal means little if you don’t achieve the group goal. We need to focus now on the remaining matches and see where we end up.”

  1. In this formation. He was one performing surprisingly well in the front 2 before the head injury.
Offering what we expected Fullkrug to do.

Nobody has claimed the spot since. Despite the forwards all being fit enough to play now.
