However, the long-standing issues with injuries raised the question of whether he can really be what is needed?
Loftus-Cheek’s role
After the Cremonese game, it seemed like the answer was probably no, and the Lecce game showed signs of this, too. A few poor touches and some squandered opportunities caused frustration. However, the midfielder did, eventually, get himself on the scoresheet.
With the goal and his general performance, MilanNews states that he can be ‘Allegri’s extra player’. He was more impactful and defended well when required. Technically, he is solid, and there is a reasonable question about his ability to score goals this year.
Per reports, the new coach wants 15 from central midfield, which the report questions if the Englishman could do by himself. With consistency and work, Allegri may have a gem on his hands. For now, Ruben is rough, but he can be an ace for Milan, and he knows that too.
He does not have the mental intensity and the determination. He is a massive guy but he is losing so many duels, so many 50-50 balls. I would not rely on him as regular starter.
I went to read that full article and this caught my eye. “In Lecce we saw a different Ruben, more impactful in his runs with the ball and in shielding possession with his back to goal.”
Of course. Did he have a single “run with the ball” ?
RLC must be paying hefty fees to get a good PR cus I don’t understand the need to whitewash him to look like the next big things Milan has ever seen. Dude is not useful both in buildup play or defending, his decision making is so poor, I have never see this dude hit or attempt to hit a defence splitting pass once, he looses so many duels even with his size, he fails to impose presence in the field the one and only time we felt his presence was PSG at sansiro, and since then, it’s been one expectation to the other.
I really don’t get the whole fuss about this guy.

He’s a bench player at best at this point. Hopefully he can learn to use his size but other than the goal he did nothing the last two games.

And I truly marvel at people who have been praising him so far and can’t see that he really doesn’t add anything.
I had to email MilanNews and ask them when this did happen. I don’t get it. One thing is to like someone, even praise him. But to write things that didn’t happen, what is going on?
He slows the gameplay down every time. Even when the ball is moving fast and vertical, he takes the speed out of the action. He´s probably more useful as a breaker in tough games when we only have a few minutes left to score and the ball is being dropped in front of goal with high crosses. I don´t see much else use for him in this team, but I fear Allegri sees a lot more in him and it will take a lot of time before he sees the limits of RLC.
If a #9 does nothing but score a goal he gets a bit of a pass. Not so with a midfielder that has other responsibilities. Looking at his stats for the game he was MIA.

Thats the big concern with RLC, he seems fragile for such a big lad. Every time he builds momentum, bam! treatment room. I’m hoping this season is different. Seems Allegri is expecting a lot from him.

It is very clear that despite good performances, match winning goals and getting the plaudits from all who saw the match… the hatred he gets in this forum, very clearly and obviously has nothing to do with football. Absolutely nothing.

I don’t think I know better than anyone at all. I watch each match and trust my eyes….Apparently every single article about the match saw what I saw…then there’s this Forum spouting absolute nonsense that is completely opposite with reality.
It is pretty clear those comments actually have nothing to do with football. my advice to you is watch the match, stop listening to the clown show and make you own judgements based of merit/performances….nothing else!
