Ruben Loftus-Cheek has admitted that AC Milan might have been too focused on trying to stop Juventus rather than doing enough to win the game.
It was close to a must-win game for Milan given the gap to the top of the table, and despite this they did not test Davide Di Gregorio until injury time in the second half.
The boos that accompanied Milan into the dressing room at the final whistle demonstrated the verdict of a fan base who have legitimate worries about it being yet another forgettable season.
The positive is that the Rossoneri defended well, but in doing so it seemed to be a trade off at the expense of any kind of threat going forward. The end result was a point that is better for Juve.
Loftus-Cheek stopped in the mix zone to answer questions from the journalists present and he spoke to Andersinho Marques for Rede 98, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.
How do you assess the game?
“I think today [yesterday] we needed to improve in finding the right balance between defending and stopping Juve and instead creating our own scoring opportunities.
“Today we didn’t take any risks and we defended very well, but in the end I don’t think we were dangerous enough in their half to win the game. We need to find this balance, we will analyse the game at Milanello and work on it.”
Next up is Slovan Bratislava in the Champions League…
“We have to continue with this form in the Champions League. We played in Madrid, it was a fantastic match, we have to have this confidence again and go there and do what we have to do. We will be ready.”
The table doesn’t look pretty at the moment…
“We have to think game by game. It’s not good for us to waste energy watching and thinking about what other teams are doing.
“We have to focus on ourselves and improve as a team, because we have fantastic players and we have to put things together to play good football. There is certainly room for improvement but we have to focus on ourselves and think game by game.”
CONTE!! DT DE PÉRGAMINOS. Fue campeón de PREMIER y FA CUP ya hoy el milan dejó de pelear por el título!!! Gracias a ZLATAN Y COMPAÑÍA!!! todos fallaron
Maybe take some of that advice for yourself ya? Because he was absolutely pointless in the field yesterday…
has anyone seen the state of the womens team? we have gone from being one of the top two teams to being in the bottom half of the table, they have failed to manage the womens team and we think they will do any better with the men? if we are spending such money even after finishing second and playing in the champions league just imagine what it will be like next season when we are playing in the conference league, we will be buying players from China
I dunno about the women’s team but I do know that even scared little girls are tougher and braver than Milan was against Juve.
And look who gives advice to the team, thesame person who is always ghosting on the pitch. If Morata wasn’t tracking back to help and Fofana playing for three people, we’d get overrun every fuc*ING time. It will be interesting to see how the team will fair when benny returns.
I believe you shouldn’t play
RLC is useless and like playing with ten men.
This has been said for quite a while now and yet Fonseca can’t seem to figure this out.
Fonseca is doing the same mistake that Pioli tried to do for almost 2 seasons.
It’s ironic coming from the least useful player in the squad. Morata has to do double work and track back because RLC is a wasteful player (with zero idea or quality to play as a no. 10).
I said the moment the team or staring XI was put out by Fonseca that with RLC starting, Milan will draw or lose the game. I have rarely been wrong with my predictions.
LOL it is quite ironic that RLC has the audacity to talk about what the team needs. he is easily and consistently the most disappointing player of this season. What a lame BS
RLC is not effective at all he wasted our midfield ability is better Acmilan should bring in Kelvin zeroli to replace him before signing Ricci for January
