“Important for us to believe” – Loftus-Cheek discusses Scudetto dream and availability for Allegri

Ruben Loftus-Cheek has certainly not had it easy with injuries in his career. The latest has been a jaw injury, but he should now be able to return to AC Milan action.

There is no doubt that Loftus-Cheek was a risky signing when he joined from Chelsea. Whilst he had an intriguing profile, he was a player known for his injury record and it had weighed down on him for his entire career.

However, he has certainly had a better run of luck recently. Of course, there have been issues along the way, but he has generally had a much better time of things.

Of course, he is just returning from a jaw issue now, but that is not a physical or muscle problem, both of which have hindered his career. In other words, there is hope that he can still play a big role.

Loftus-Cheek and Milan believe

He returns at a big moment for the Rossoneri too, and with Milan still in the title fight, he could be a big player for Massimiliano Allegri. Earlier today, he spoke to Sportsmediaset about the Scudetto and how he can help Allegri, via MilanNews.

On the contribution he can make on the pitch with his return…

“I think everyone knows that I can play in different roles and that I give my all wherever I play. This season I’ve played a few times as a striker or in midfield, but wherever I play I’ll try to help create or score goals. I’m happy to do so.”

Does Milan still believe in the Scudetto?

“I think it’s important for us to believe in it. But I think the best way is to focus on one match at a time. We have a tough match against Napoli, which would help us enormously if we win, but the standings are very tight between the top four or five, so we need to focus on each game and see where we end up.

On his new mouthguard (he’ll play with a protective mask)

“It’s like a rubber shield: it’s higher in the fractured area. It gives me more security, protection, if I were to get elbowed.”
