Ahead of the game between Milan and Torino this evening, Ruben Loftus-Cheek spoke to the club’s official channel and shared his thoughts on the encounter. Playing in front of the fans, the midfielder stated that the Rossoneri are excited.
Starting the season on a good note is crucial for any club and this is certainly the goal for Milan tonight. They have been incredibly dominant against Torino at home in the past, as the stats show, and now they must continue this trend under Paulo Fonseca.
Speaking to MilanTV this evening, as streamed on the official YouTube channel, Loftus-Cheek shared his thoughts on the game. He also stated that it’s really good to be back in front of the fans for a proper game, as their support is amazing.
How are you feeling?
“We are good, we feel fit, we worked hard in pre-season and we are ready to perform. We are excited and optimistic about the season.”
What is it like to be back with the fans?
“We have missed them for sure, today they will be a big help to carry us through the 90 minutes. It’s good to see them bring the noise. It’s a perfect atmosphere for the first game and we hope to get the win.”
Fonseca has named an unexpected starting XI for the game as Alexis Saelemaekers is starting at left-back. Aside from Mike Maignan, all of the players in the XI were present for some games during the US pre-season tour, thus in the best condition.
I think he will be the most impactful player with more minutes.
The man can play anywhere in midfield, in as a CAM and in a double pivot.
Yet he’s not great in any of those positions, that’s why he will be a bench option unless chukwueze continues to dissapoint and pulisic goes back to the right wing.
