Ahead of the game between AC Milan and Roma this evening, Ruben Loftus-Cheek shared his thoughts on the encounter. The Englishman has started well for the Rossoneri and will be looking to continue on that path.
Loftus-Cheek arrived from Chelsea earlier in the summer, being one of the first signings, and has thus spent a lot of time with his new club. That’s also why Stefano Pioli has given him the chance from start in the first three games of this season (including tonight).
Speaking to MilanTV and DAZN, as cited by MilanPress, the midfielder spoke about the atmosphere and what it will be like to play his first big game with the Rossoneri. He also spoke about his partnership with Tijjani Reijnders.
On how he feels and the atmosphere of the first “big match” of the season…
“The atmosphere is fantastic, I cannot wait to get on the pitch. I don’t see today’s game as a big match, we’ve played two equally important ones before so we have to keep doing well.”
On the impact of Serie A and his physical conditions…
“The season has just begun, I’m fine but my condition will improve. I will continue to work well in training and in the matches to improve.”
The understanding with Reijnders…
“It feels like we have been playing together for a long time. We have become friends, since he arrived we have talked a lot. We can still do better.”
Pioli has opted to go with the exact same XI that we saw in the first two games, trusting the players that have done well so far. Off the bench, he has several options and it remains to be seen what changes he will make.
