By Oliver Fisher -

Ruben Loftus-Cheek couldn’t hide his delight after the scored his first goal for AC Milan, and it was one that sealed all three points against Cagliari at the Unipol Domus.

After dominating the early stages, Zito Luvumbo’s near post shot beat Marco Sportiello to stun Milan against the run of play, but two rapid goals before the break turned the game on its head.

It was Noah Okafor who got his first goal for the club five minutes before the break to equalise with a close-range finish from a rebound, then Fikayo Tomori turned in another rebound on the stroke of half-time.

Loftus-Cheek’s long-range screamer in the second half created a bit of breathing room as he joined Okafor in getting his first in the red and black shirt.

The Englishman spoke to Sky after the game to assess what was a memorable night for him with his first goal for the club, and his comments were relayed by MilanNews.

How do you judge the performance?

“I’m very happy. We did well to get back into the game straight away. They were very aggressive, but we did well. I’m very happy with the first goal. I feel good, I’m working very hard. We need to continue to improve. Every match increases my confidence, I’m very happy to be at Milan.”

You will see Sarri again on Saturday when Lazio come to San Siro…

“Sarri was a very important coach for me, he is the first who gave me a great opportunity at Chelsea and I had a great season with him. It will be a good day for me.”

Are Milan the anti-Inter?

“We have to fight every game, we’re only at the beginning. We have to train hard to reduce the derby gap.”
