Longo: Basel defender remains first choice for Milan to replace Ballo-Toure

AC Milan are set to part ways with Fode Ballo-Toure this summer and that means they will need to bring in a new deputy left-back. Some names have been thrown around but the Rossoneri have one clear target, a report claims.

Ballo-Toure is keen on leaving Milan after two seasons with minimal playing time, while the Rossoneri believe he isn’t good enough to be Theo Hernandez’s deputy. As such, a replacement should be brought in this summer.

According to Daniele Longo, Milan have Basel left-back Riccardo Calafiori as their first choice for the role. They have been linked with a few other players as well but the former Roma man is at the top of the list.

However, due to the delay of Ballo-Toure’s departure, Milan have not been able to touch base with Basel regarding the price tag. The 21-year-old joined the Swiss side for just €1m last summer but Roma also are entitled to a certain percentage. A lot will depend on the price tag, therefore.
