Longo: Conceicao ‘has already chosen’ Milan’s striker for final against Bologna

Sergio Conceicao has already decided which striker will play from start in the Coppa Italia final between AC Milan and Bologna, according to a report.

Luka Jovic got the nod from start in last night’s game against the Rossoblu, and while he had some good moments in the first half, it was Santiago Gimenez who unlocked the clash off the bench. The Mexican found the back of the net twice and was named the MOTM by the papers.

According to Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, however, Conceicao has already decided the striker for the final. While the brace has boosted Gimenez’s confidence a lot, leaving the ‘performance anxiety’ aside, he should start on the bench again on Wednesday.

Jovic has impressed Conceicao in terms of how he works with the team, even if he isn’t always on the scoresheet, and a starting spot would also be a sort of ‘reward’ for the brace in the semi-final. Of course, yesterday’s display has probably given the manager more doubts.

It remains to be seen if the decision will change but as things stand right now, that is unlikely. At least Conceicao knows that if Jovic were to struggle again, he has an in-form No.7 on the bench who could make things difficult for Bologna, especially if they don’t prepare to face him.

  1. Vs. Both Monza in serie A and Bologna cup matches suggested team

    Mike

    Walker Thiaw Gabbia Pavlovic

    Pulisic Musah Felix Leao

    Gimenez Jovic

First half there no advantage of goals for ACM case then:

    Theo for Thiaw
    Fofana for Felix
    Tamy for Luka
    RLC for Walker
    Chukwueze for Musah

    1. So Musah over Tijji?

      And Pavlovic over Theo?

I think the notion of 4 stay-at-home defenders is interesting. But then you get Theo on the field as a midfielder and either Leao or Pulisic takes the second striker position.

      1. This 4- 4- 2 seems doesn’t needs Tiji but 4- 4- 1- 1 at pulisic behind Gimenez and Tiji is for one of Musah or Luka

  2. Not sure why we’re getting excited over Jovic after one good game… He’s always taken turns between being inconsistent and hurt. Santi was the big investment – develop him and use him in a system that fits him.
