Joao Felix has ended up on AC Milan’s radar as the pursuit of Santiago Gimenez might not have a positive ending. However, while Sergio Conceicao is a big fan of the player, the Rossoneri are hesitant.
Finding the back of the net has been a problem for Milan this season, underperforming when looking at expected vs. actual goals. Tammy Abraham, for example, has an xG of 7.01 this season but has only scored two goals in the league (via Understat).
In short, to reach a top-four finish, reinforcements are needed up front this month and Santiago Gimenez has been identified as the priority. As reported by Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, there are no guarantees that this deal will materialise and alternatives are thus needed just in case.
Joao Felix has been mentioned a lot lately, and as per the journalist, Conceicao would be very happy to welcome his compatriot to the club. Jorge Mendes, who is the agent of both Conceicao and Joao Felix, is pushing for the move as well.
Milan, however, are hesitant about the deal as a loan wouldn’t be possible. Chelsea have already used up all of their ‘loan allowance’ and it would thus have to be a permanent formula. It would be an expensive operation, in other words, which is not ideal.
The Rossoneri remain informed on the matter through Mendes, but the Chelsea man would only become an option if the Gimenez deal falls through. Even then, it might not be possible to make a transfer happen due to the costs.
That is, the managers are being cheap again, not realizing that missing the UCL spots will be way more financially damaging than coughing up more money for a good player who can actually help us qualify for the next UCL.
What has Joao Felix done in his career that spending 40-50m on him is worth it and guarantees that signing him will help Milan qualify for the next year UCL?
Another overrated, overhyped player who shows up once a month or once every 2 months?
While I haven’t followed João Felix so I wouldn’t know, I do trust Conceição’s judgment. If he wants Felix, the player probably would be good for his system.
And don’t put words in my mouth. I did not say anything about a guarantee. I just said, “can help us.”
Given how Abraham and Morata frequently miss sitters, anybody who can actually finish better than them, can help us.
“good player who can actually help us qualify for the next UCL.”
Those are your words.
For Milan to sign Felix they will have to pay at least 40m. For that money it has to be actual guarantee that can help Milan qualify for the UCL.
And, also what has Conceição done so far that you trust his judgment when it comes to spending 40+ mil on probably the biggest bust in football based on how much Atletico paid for him?
Yep, I said “can help,” not “guaranteed to help.” That’s all we can hope for as far as a winter mercato when the main players are not in the market, and we need the help NOW!
What Conceição has done so far? Took a modest roster with Porto to several good showings in the Champions League with some quarterfinal appearances clearly punching above their weight, and won 11 trophies in 7 years. Within a week with us he won a trophy; sure, a minor one, but he beat the big favorites that happen to be our two biggest rivals, coming from behind. Yes, we did lose badly another game to Juve; it happens as they are good; but if not for our players missing 3 incredible sitters in the one game we drew under him, Conceicao would have had so far all wins except for the Juve game (which could have been different too if, guess what, we hadn’t missed another sitter earlier on; my point exactly; a CF almost regardless of who he is, can help us if we can have someone who converts sitters rather than Abraham who can’t score if not 2 feet from the goal line and even when it’s like that he misses some, and Morata who is barely present in the box and looks like a midfielder rather than a striker.
See Napoli under Garcia, and Napoli under Spalletti and Conte, same players; performed wildly differently. See CDK under Pioli and under Gasperini. Coaches matter to players. Who is to say that Felix, a bust at Barcelona, can’t thrive under his co-national Conceição?
Felix a bust at Barcelona?
Just at Barcelona?
How about Atletico and currently at Chelsea?
He has been a bust everywhere.
He costs over 40 million at the least.
Now read your first comment and stop digging even a bigger hole for yourself. You wrote your comment like Joao Felix is a free agent and Milan refuses to sign him because they are cheap. He would be Milan’s highest signing ever, but you are trusting Conceição because they come from the same country.
Don’t care what Conceição has done with Porto, he isn’t coaching Porto anymore and there is no guarantee that he will coach Milan next season.
So again, why would Milan trust him with Felix, a player he has never worked with?
This is not Conte- Lukaku connection.
He can ask for another player. Felix for 40+ mil is a NO👎.
He is very good, but i never understood why he went to Alteti, from there on he never recovered. Of we take him on we take a gamble, but I personally think its worth it at 40M, if i am not mistaken Atleti broke their record at 110 for him.
Yeah i dunno if anyone still remember Philippe Coutinho, Eden Hazard, and Dembele when they signed for very expensive price and then you know where they are now?
52m for Joao Felix a guy who failed everywhere he went for past 4 years
Are you Yonghong Li? Because you just want to sign random players like him.
I’m not the one who wants to sign him. The name of the person who wants to sign him is one Sérgio Conceição. Sorry, I will take the opinion of this excellent professional head coach who has worked wonders for Porto, over the opinion of some dude Boulden in the Internet.
uh huh because the newspaper tells you? Are you dense to believe everything you read by journos? They arent best friends with Coenceicao that he talks to them everyday ffs
Reports are multiple that Conceição wants Felix. So I shouldn’t believe these reports but should rather believe… you? LOL
Who do you think you are??? And I’m the dense one? Yeah, right.
when did i say beleive me? do you have mental issues that you think newspapers are 100% true?
Get help dude
Yeah did anyone remember Philippe Coutinho, Eden Hazard, and Dembele when they signed ’em for hefty price back then.
The truth is we don’t need a striker, the reason we are not scoring is because we are not creating chances, therefore we need midfielders who are creative and have vision, most of the midfielders we have tend to hold on to the ball for far too long, or even go for the wrong option, Leao is the only player who does not mind giving assists, Rejinders for all his talent lacks that gilted edge vision or talent, and wastes passes, or shots the ball high, Theo always thinks of scoring even if the angle is impossible, and it’s better to pass, we have 5 forwards who don’t work properly because of a lack of creativity and service from the midfield, that’s our problem
⬆️This!⬆️
Midfielder, especially a creative Midfielder is a much bigger issue than a striker or a forward.
Are you kidding? We have atleast 10 shots per game and can hardly score one goal.
10 wayward shots from 25-30 meters away.
Milan creates very little.
Which is why Usman Yusuf said the midfielders like Reijnders don’t have gilt edge assist trait, likes shooting shots which are way off the mark sometimes or henandez who wants to score from impossible angles. So there you have it, some of the shots per game we accumulate are just that: wasted chances
Half the shots lately have been Fofana from 30 metres. High into the Ultras.
While what you said is also true, our supposed strikers Morata and Abraham have missed multiple sitters. A more clinical number 9 could help. Rafa often produces good crosses that his companions don’t convert. If he had a better finishing target to cross to, we’d have more goals.
Morata & Abraham are not the strikers we need. Should have signed neither in fact.
So Milan most definitely need a striker.
Especially musah! Idk why he always play as starter on every milan game! He can play football, he us quite fast and strong but that’s it..no vision, no talent no notting!! Maldini and Luka Romero is way way better than him.!
He actually had a shit on target against Girona that was stopped by the bar…I think he still has more room for improvement if he applies himself with the opportunities he’s given imo
A post hit is not a shot on target. It’s actually a miss. Not by much but still a miss, and it doesn’t help the team. It’s not a score. Doesn’t count for anything.
No stats have ever considered a post or crossbar hit as a shot on target. Do I really need to explain it to you???
LOL. It takes 2 seconds of searching for stats to show that Milan average the second most shots per game in Serie A. Second most! We don’t need midfielders, you noob, we need players than can find the back of the net. We need a striker!
No. We create plenty even without a clear focal point. You create more with an effective striker because they pull defenders about more. We have creative players, but we don’t have anyone making smart runs in front of them. We could bring in a 20 assists a season man, his assists will soon tank if he’s got no one troubling defences in front of him.
If we have 20 assists player the other strikers will ‘rearrange’ their game…haven’t moratas goal record before now a good one? Tell yourself what changed? Yes Abraham miss sitters but the guy hasn’t been healthy for extended periods of time in recent years we all what he can do when he’s fit for long and Jovic put in good numbers last season even though he was still a fringe player then. Camarda shows enough talent in front of goal too, so if we have a 20 assist man I think these guys will come through for us
No, Morata was not a prolific goal scorer before he joined us. This is made worse by the fact that Serie A defenses are generally better than La Liga defenses.
Give Italians or Camarda a fair chance. Foreigners seem to get an overwhelming amount of chances…..
Which Italian striker should Milan sign?
There are 2 …Kelechi Milan and King22 (sort of Kaka ish player) 😀 😛
There are 2 Italian strikers in top 10 goals in serie a right now.
Joao Felix can be great reinforcement, but now I’m on management side… we need attacker, striker .. Joao play little more then Jovic this season in Premier League and they want 50m € for him ..
It’s great idea to buy him but nor now, maybe in summer.
Now Gimenez is definitely what we need
Felix has been passed around to a dozen teams and has not stuck anywhere. Do not want him in Milan.
Mr. K Heir. Exactly. I watch Chelsea often and he hasn’t done it there. His successes are against second level English teams or third rate Europa Conference teams. People, get real about him. He looks good until you realize he doesn’t produce.
Please do not sign him, this player is so weak!
Don’t get me wrong, Conceiçao is a coach I really like and want him to succeed and be our longterm solution. But why would they splash 50 millions on Felix (definitely overpriced) for a coach that’s currently still on a 6 months contract? Also, Felix an alternative to Gimenez? They are completely different type of players. This is one lazy report.
Lazy or not….if coach is represented by Mendes, he will try to move his players for commission…like it or not.. almost every agent does this…
You think Conceicao leaves after 6mo honestly? And who would they even replace him with that’s an upgrade?
I think (or hope) he stays and they save face, otherwise if they cut him they will look even more idiotic, if that’s even possible…
He deserves a full season with a preseason.
Yes, he deserves a full season, but if Milan fails to qualify for CL and do not win any more trophy you never know. Ancellotti is quitting Real Madrid after this season.
Like I said, I too hope he stays. We need consistency and discipline. And he can give this team both. But you never know what can happen. It’s not hard to get in conflict with this management, especially when it comes to recruitment.
On a loan deal he would of been ok but to drop 40m without trialing him in italy is very risky. Im not a fan of our management but its valid point. We need a proven scorer. Besides he is a support striker which isnt what we need given both leao and pulisic can operate there.
This comment section proved to me that these fans deserve this management.
You stingy and you spent so much more. Should have got Dobyk in the summer. He wasn’t that expensive. In stead they chose Morata and loan Tammy. Morata wasn’t expensive but his salary is high and his contract is 4/5 years.
I think Morata scores less than Colombo this season who is now plying trade at the much smaller team.
This guy (I don’t wanna misgendering him/he/she/them/they/ whatever 😆😆) looks and play like an anemic vegan woke lesbian libtard western woman, with climate change anxiety…c’mon…
Felix is like Rashford too expensive for a maybe…a luxury we can’t afford
