Longo: Dida has decided to leave his role as goalkeeping coach at Milan

By Isak Möller -

Nelson Dida, the legendary ex-goalkeeper, has decided to leave his role as goalkeeping coach at AC Milan. Given his importance over the last year or so, it’s not the news the management was hoping for.

The news was reported by Daniele Longo and Calciomercato.com, stating that Dida has decided to leave for personal reasons. It has nothing to do with Milan, but he won’t be able to fulfil his commitments with the club anymore.

Dida has previously been praised for his work especially with Mike Maignan, helping him adapt quickly to Serie A and also enhancing his qualities. His departure, therefore, is not the news Milan were hoping to hear.

The replacement should be Flavio Roma, who was part of the goalkeeping staff back in 2012. Milan, as we know, have three goalkeeping coaches and that seems to have helped the goalkeepers in the squad (as they get more useful feedback).

His personal reason probably he wants to spend more time with his family which i think he stated that in one of his past interview about his family is important and he missed Brazil.

  2. Thanks Dida! It’s sad to see you leave but we hope to see you back when you solve your personal problems. You are always welcome back at AC Milan. It’s your home forever!
