In short, it was a very disappointing evening at San Siro and it remains to be seen how the team will respond, especially with tougher games coming up. On his X profile, the journalist Daniele Longo shared his eight takeaways from the 2-2 draw.
- The squad lacks depth, and the alternatives aren’t even close to the starting eleven.
- Milan are very dependent on Modric, who is magnificent.
- The quality of the defence is a stumbling block for the Scudetto. We said it in the summer.
- If Rafa is a problem, then bless the problems.
- Athekame scores a good goal, but otherwise plays poorly. Very poorly.
- Nkunku didn’t do well off the bench, like in Turin.
- Gimenez is strong in my opinion and is working hard, but his lack of goals is starting to become a problem.
- Ricci is too timid. Always a conservative play, he had a chance to play it forward for Rafa but didn’t feel like it.
The next game is scheduled for Tuesday and Atalanta will be the opponents, then the Rossoneri will be up against the likes of Roma, Parma and Inter. Considering the tough run of games, it stings even more that Max Allegri’s men couldn’t get all three points against Pisa.
The takeaway is that we can’t get complacent in any match. The fan and players seem to think that the match is already won

1. The squad doesn’t lack depth. It has injuries. What’s a club to do? Have a squad of 35 players to deal with injuries. 35 miserable, ever changing players, that never form any kind of bond or understanding? Because that’s worked out well over the years.
2. Clearly Milan aren’t dependent on Modric given Leao has scored 3 in 2. Rabiot, Pulisic and Saelemaekers have also been decisive.

– LOL. Football isn’t all about scoring. It’s also about not conceding. Modric is helping us in both. We live and die by him. Take away Modric and we would have lost yesterday.
There are injuries, but there are also gaps.
How many CB’s do we have injured? None. How many can we sub on? Just one.
We have a wingback out, but Bartesaghi is sufficient.
How many reliable attackers do we have injured? One. But the only one that scores consistently and in clutch moments. The rest are spotty.
Midfield is where we’re short of options.
Parts injuries and part holes.

He is mostly right. Squad depth and central defenders especially, most people that have nothing to do with football saw this and commented on it. Leao is the problem but not Nkunku that plays the invisible man whenever he is in there? Gimenez is a striker, if he doesn’t have 15 or more goals on June 1st 2026 he should be sold…

Agreed. Ricci is defensively minded. Jashari has more forward line breaking passes in him. But I’m not sure how Max will field him.
Our defense is in fact dependent on Modric. When we’re caught in the back with him upfield it is worrisome.
