AC Milan are expected to make some major changes to the squad ahead of next season, and according to a report, eleven players already have their bags packed.
It has been a disappointing season from start to finish for Milan, likely to finish 9th in the league standings. The Coppa Italia final against Bologna was also lost, while the Supercoppa Italiana win was more of a fluke than anything. And now, without European football, changes are needed.
Igli Tare will soon be announced as the new sporting director, as reported by Calciomercato.com’s Daniele Longo, and there will be a lot for the Albanian to do. Milan will wear their new home shirt tonight but as the journalist writes, eleven players could wear it just the one time.
In total, eleven players already have their ‘bags packed’ as per Longo: Joao Felix, Kyle Walker, Fikayo Tomori, Malick Thiaw, Yunus Musah, Emerson Royal, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Samuel Chukwueze, Riccardo Sottil, Alessandro Florenzi and Filippo Terracciano.
Meanwhile, Tare will have to deal with the limbo state of Mike Maignan, Theo Hernandez and Tijjani Reijnders as soon as he arrives at Casa Milan. The Dutchman has attracted the interest of Manchester City, who are very keen on closing a deal quickly.
Build around Tijji, sell the dead wood. He has already said he doesn’t want an exit. Build a Dutch-Italian Milan again. If Tottenham didn’t win the Europa League Van Der Ven would be ideal. Along with Quinten Timber, brother of Urien. Don’t get Allegri, fight for Conte.
What makes you think Milan could get Van der Ven, a starter from a upper tier club from Premier League?
Not exactly an upper tier club. 17th Plus he said IF they didnt in the uel
All these journalists are mad men, at least seven of those players have alot to give, among the players he mentioned, Florenzi, Chukweze, Walker are the ones that should be let go…
Chuck is unfortunately not very good. Florenzi is too old.
Walker I can agree with. Still has a lot left to give and has a winners pedigree.
Keep Walker. A lot of the problem is every week not knowing who is starting and what formation.
Teracciano should never have been bought. He has never been anywhere near Milan level.
Agree with you
Keep Walker, Thiaw and Tomori.
I don’t think we saw enough of Sottil to say make or break yet.
Musah can play well but everyone asked him to play in positions he wasn’t familiar with.
The rest can go sadly enough.
Theo hasn’t played well since Maldini left.
Tijji isn’t going to be more valuable than he is right now so cash in and find a suitable replacement.
Mike has been error prone for 2 years and injury prone for longer.
Oh. And being back Tonali to captain the team.
…Tonali ain’t coming back. He is in a secure and great club, playing in a quality league, good salary. How is Milan going to cash up for a player in his prime time?
I know. Its totally wishful thinking on my past.
It was a crime selling him. 😢
Musa can’t play for Milan, he can’t understand football anymore, as you as a professional you had to perform to your best at any position, in your actual position we have betterthan you, I swear I know so many unprofessional players that were more better than Musa, me I don’t know where Musa go learned that kind football, i trust maldini but he never tried
with that kind transfer, am sorry to say but Musa is always lacking football basic.
I disagree. First Musah is 21. Already dismissing a youngster? . Your comment of at any position suggest that if i put leao at CB, he has to do well? Some players can play multiple positions, but most prefer one or two and usually around the same arena. Musah has been an idiot at times, but he has played Winger, Right back, DM, Box to box MF and AM. I’m all in for versatility, but if you are a Winger, there is no way, you can also be a DM. That’s a fail on the coach. Initially Musah was supposed to be that bench, rotational player who will learn alongside experience talented veterans. But, all we got was two experience players made of glass in RLC and Bennie, One French player who came at the last second in Fofana who barely had any time to catch up before we asked him to play every second until we burned him down and Tiji who has been our guy. Suddenly Musah found himself in the starting 11, against top teams and being put in any position possible because we had many gaps. He was set up for failure. I do think, he can still contribute. Will he become a for sure starting 11 caliber player, who knows. But in many ways i feel we are like a ManU or Chelsea who fault their young players for not performing, when the real culprint is the organization itself who set them up for failure.
He is a bad player … dont make it sound like he knows football … he is probably the wordt player i have ever seen play for milan beside borini.
Boners rather
Bonera rather.
100%
Why would they ship away Sottil and Walker straight away? The rest makes sense except for Thiaw. No way they are keeping Abraham either with his wage.
Then we have all the loanees that need to be sold: Colombo, Vazquez, Lazetic, Morata, Pobega, Okafor, Saelesmaekers, Kalulu, Adli, and Bennacer.
I hope Calabria comes back now when Conceicao leaves and that Pellegrino is brough back and given a chance. We need another left footed CB behind Pavlovic and then Bartesaghi can play as left back.
With no European games a 22 man squad with 2 in each position and 5 young under 21s that can be added freely to the squad (Torriani, Jimenez, Bartesaghi, Zeroli and Camarda) will be more then enough.
Make up for the missed money from European games by selling/returning the 19 players we dont need (Felix, Tomori, Musah, Royal, Loftus-Cheek, Chukwueze, Florenzi, Terracciano, Abraham, Colombo, Vazquez, Lazetic, Morata, Pobega, Okafor, Saelesmaekers, Kalulu, Adli, and Bennacer).
Then buy a couple of italians.
We don’t own either Walker or Sottil. So to keep them we need to convince them to stay and pay up.
All of those players from that list Except for Thiaw can go. Ball playing CB are difficult to find and Thiaw is just that.
Keep Musah, keep Thiaw, keep Chukwueze, sell the rest of the players on the list along with Theo and Leao.
What did you see in Musah and Chukwueze that made you decide to keep them ?
Musah is a 22 year old who was never given any stability. He worked with 3 different coaches in 2 years and was used in 6 different positions. I don’t care who the player is if every game plays in a different position he will not look good. Pick a position and let him settle in that position and then you can judge him.
Chukwueze was never given any prolonged playing time because Pulisic came in before him and made the RW position his own. Chukwueze was only given maybe one start a month and Pioli especially would sub him along with Okafor at half time if they didn’t score goals.
Pulisic at Milan looks like the player Chelsea spent big money on because he got to play regularly. He even said this himself as the main reason why he is back at his best.
Musah cant even play good being a ball boy
100%
I don’t understand people’s positive views of Chuck. Can those that see him as a asset please help me see it because I just don’t?
Young, fast, good movement. Unfortunately he’s small and one footed, not ideal in Italy. I honestly think he’d thrive in Spain or Germany
Young isn’t a bonus if it doesn’t include skill.
Movement off the ball yes. Hes fast and makes decent runs. With the ball hes absolutely suspect and loses the ball often.
He has skills and is one of those players that the right coach might be able to get excellent results from. Emphasis on ‘might’. They’d need to train a pressing game into him or he might excel in a team where the rest of the team is behind him. That’s unlikely to be Milan.
There’s a reason people were excited for us to sign him, because he was a walking highlights reel for Villarreal, but there’s also a reason actual Moneyball teams (ie data led ones) stayed away from him.
I guess I don’t see the skill.
Hes fast absolutely but him being one footed means he’s easy to defend against.
Defending in La Liga has always been suspect which is I think, why he had so.mamy highlight reels.
The number of times he loses the ball on the dribble is atrocious.
What skill? You are blind.
Dont you all know? The whole club is being sold, Milan is being merged with Milan Futuro as the new main club, we are in Serie D next season.
Pack your bags people, go support Inter now
You can do that we are staying. At least I am. Every team can have a bad season. Just look at Napoli last season they won this season. Everything isn’t over you know. But go to Inter if you like we won’t miss you.
💪👍👍👍
Agreed with all except Thiaw and Sottil. We should keep them. We didn’t see much of him since he came, and deserves more time.
ALL THE PLAYER’S MENTION SHOULD STAY,, MILAN NEED TO SELL RAFAEL LEAO THE MOST USELESS PLAYER IN THE WORLD.
Lol, have you seen us without Leao? Without him we are maybe the worst team in Serie A.
It clearly shows you don’t know football. How will anyone in his right sense will clamour for Leao to be sold. If you sell him ,does Milan have fund for equal replacement??? People just come here and make comment just because they are annoyed or want just to make comment. Nothing constructive or realistic about there comments.
O will be the happiest man in the world. That lazy player who lacks stamina, who doesn’t do anything off the ball. He will jog around leaving theo exposed, while Pulisic is busy tracking back to defend n initiate attacks. Leao just sits at the opponents line waiting to get the ball n do his trickery, often to fail. Sell him. No coach can develop him with his lazy attitude
I’d keep Florenzi and Thiaw from that bunch. One for the spirit and the other played our best defence when paired with Gabbia. And where’s Okafor?
I’d almost redo with the full squad and a better coach… too many player changes don’t work.. they have to get used to each other..1st season is bad….also..
All this guys yes could and some should be sold… enough to plug funds… then will n3ver get same equal quality replacement for our good players we sell unless we overpaying. Or take risks with unknowns….
That’s not how it works. You can’t fail to qualify for Europe and keep your full squad. Even if the owners were willing to sink a bunch of cash into that idea, it’s against the UEFA rules.
Milan have to sell people, including big names. No way around that.
So Okafor has won SeriaA with Napoli
Another revolution? Isnt this like the 4th one in 3 seasons 🤦♂️
Milan would be insane to sell Rijnders. They have plenty of less useful players who will still attract big offers. So there’s no need.
Leao should be on that sell list. We need high intensity players.
We have never seen anything good in our players but remember that the major problem is coach. Since our switch to 343 we have form formidability . I think what we need is to get a creative mildfielder and good defenders that are flexible in style. Double pivot football is old fashion .Look at Barcelona today, look at Madrid and city defense , that’s the styles of today football. With good coaching and physic management this team will win everything for you. Again Leao has to be more serious and also do some defensive jobs
If you sell Rejders it will be a huge mistake like Tonali!
If you want to sell and sacrifice someone, we sacrifice Cardinale!
Jovic should also join the list.
Tbh, I would keep Felix, he’s good just doesn’t have an end product, similar to pre-Covid and Covid Leao. Milan should understand they are not a team to build around kids, that’s why Inter is getting it and we are not. We thrive on experienced players, we are not just a regular team we used to be one of the best in the world filled with players experienced players. How long are we going to wait for this kids to pick up. KDB is a free agent, pounce on this deals, rather than pay 30m for a pre-tested player, pay 9/10m a year to a super experienced player. You boost morale and squad experience
If you can’t get Conte, go for Allegri, this are coaches that know the league like their hands. Milan should dominate the league first before thinking of Europe. We are currently nobody in Europe. Last time we won UCL, half of Milan fans were not even watching football then. That was 18 years ago. We need to dominate the league first
For rejeinders Milan would make a big mistake again if they sell him or at least they have to ask for a 100 million .Milan should sell Theo and Rafa Emerson royal one between tomori and thiaw .for sure
Recruit Diego Coppola, Giovanni Leoni, Luka Vuskovic, Franco Mastantuono, Andrija Maksimovic, Samuel Ricci, Federico Chiesa, and Dusan Vlahovic.
Milan should not be in a hurry to sell their stars. They were hired because Milan saw some potentials in them. How certain can new 11 players play well? I see disappointment in every player, but I can also see the burning hunger and zeel to redeem lost glories if given more time 💁
I think we shall play with 3-4-1-2. If we get Mancini that would be a great deal.
Selling this guys we can focus on getting some experienced guys.
I think we Might have a shot in revolutionizing the team if we sell Leao – Theo – Tiji. I know it’s hard but it’s already a closed cycle.
So I think this will be a great team
Maignan
Pavlovic – Luiz Felipe – Gabbia
Udogie – Ricci – Fofana – Chiesa
Pulisic
Gimenez – Lucca
If we are lucky we can aim some better players like – Ndoye – Milinkovic Savic – Gila – Castro and in the end a crazy dream Osimhen
Best of luck hopefully year zero
Ac Milan should keep Chukwueze, the young man has force and move straight to goal, unlike others. And he creates chances (go and watch his matches). For me he should remain
