Longo: Gila ‘almost a done deal’ as Milan eye two centre-back signings

Mario Gila will most likely become a new AC Milan player at the end of the season, according to a report, as a total agreement is very close.

Milan have been monitoring the performances of Gila for quite some time. Massimiliano Allegri had made it known throughout the season that another centre-back could be very useful, and in January, he even told the management to sign one.

In the end, he didn’t get a reinforcement but Igli Tare has been working an angle for several months now: Mario Gila. It’s a player he helped bring to Lazio in the first place and after the Spaniard’s great display against Milan earlier this year, the rumours gathered even more steam.

Milan are closing in on Gila

On his YouTube channel, Daniele Longo shared an update on the Gila negotiations, stating that it’s almost a done deal. Milan have made great progress in the negotiations and if everything goes to plan, he will be the first addition to the defence this summer.

“Tare has been working for several months on the signing of Mario Gila. I can tell you that, without giving you a total confirmation, that it’s almost a done deal. The total agreement is very close. The formal steps are still needed, but the negotiations are proceeding on the right track.

“Gila should become one of the new centre-backs for Milan, because I believe the Rossoneri will sign two centre-backs this summer. The other one could arrive from the same agent, namely Víctor Valdepeñas from Real Madrid Castilla,” he stated.

  1. Would be a great signing if they actually get him. I’m sure reaching an agreement with player and agent would be a lot easier than with Lotito

  2. Good signing if it happens. Now, here’s some wishful thinking: sell Leao (50) and Pulisic (40) and bring back Tonali for 75 plus bonuses. (Do Newcastle still owe us anything for him?) Don’t waste time with Goretzka or Casemiro, both short term. Offer Man City a cheeky loan plus obligation to buy for Rejinders, he’s been completely frozen out by Pep. If no loan, then sell Fofana (30) and RLC (20) to fund Tiji purchase. Obviously, Bernardo Silva would be cheaper but I doubt he’s joining us. Chiesa (10) and Martinelli (30-35) for the wings. Both talented, hard working with potential to grow and good experience and are realistic targets. We also need to sign a winger with pace, prefably who could play both wings. Sell Gimenez (30) and Nkunku (30) to cover Lewandowski/Vlahovics fees and also Gonzalo Ramos (35?)/Moise Kean(35). Lastly, sell the other deadweights and loanees to strengthen the full backs with Spinazolla, Kayode, or Calafiori(now I’m just dreaming). Yeah, yeah, I know these bunch of suits would never spend 75+M on Tonali but I need to have hope(delusions) that next season we could (actually) challenge for the title and reach the quarters of the Champions League.

  3. A third option is Antonio Rudiger, now a free agent as his Real Madrid contract has expired. No transfer fee. He’s great in both a back 3 and back 4. Huge upgrade on set pieces, and he goes forward very well.

      1. But an excellent defender that is better than what we have. Btw, I’ve not seen any signs of provocation or arrogance from him at all.

          1. Never heard anything like that during his time at Chelsea or Madrid. People made similar comments about Rabiot as well which turned out to be unfounded.

    1. Well Real Madrid still get a say in this, even though Rudiger is the one who makes the final call, they can still offer him a new contract and I’m pretty he’d prefer to stay at RM.
