Gimenez and Morata

Longo: Milan have €50m target for the summer as Morata fails to convince

Alvaro Morata has been unable to take the AC Milan management, as well as the fanbase, by storm so far this season. Therefore, according to a report, the Rossoneri are already eyeing a striker for the summer.

Morata was signed for just €13m in the summer and considering his experience, there were relatively high (but cautious) hopes among the Milan fans. So far, he has five goals and two assists in 17 appearances, which isn’t good enough.

According to Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, the Spaniard has been unable to convince the management and with Tammy Abraham’s loan expiring in the summer as well, Milan are already looking at a new No.9.

Viktor Gyökeres and Benjamin Sesko, who were the main targets, are now out of reach due to their price tags. Santiago Gimenez, on the other hand, remains within reach even if Feyenoord are asking for around €50m to part ways with the Mexican international.

An extra effort would thus be needed from Milan to secure a new striker in the summer. It should be noted that Francesco Camarda, who will start against Verona tonight, is still very much in the Rossoneri’s plan. However, considering his age, they don’t want to rush him either.

  1. hahahaha….those of us with a brain saw this coming in the summer…but no we got ‘he’s world class’ and ‘he will make the rest of the team better’

    Pathetic

      1. plenty of people did, there was a huge hard on when we signed Morata. Those of us who actually understand football knew he’d get 1 in 3 at best and miss crucial chances…how did we know? tea leaves? crystal ball? time machine? No…because he’s done it his entire career! 😀

    1. It’s a waste of time explaining simple truths here.

He played 4 seasons for Juventus (in his prime) his total in the league (the only fair comparison) was 35 goals = 8.5 league goals per season

      That is who we signed.

I have no problem with Morata, he has always been a good all rounder and works hard, a goal scorer he is not.
At 32 he shud be our back up

      1. And still he is our highest earner at 8.3 mil gross according to capology.
I nevertheless like his work ethics but clearly shouldn’t be spearheading our attack or for that matter earn as much as he does.

      2. I 100% agree, I think he’s an excellent option off the bench!! I always thought that was the plan, along with Royale, make both first time this year and when Camarda and Jimenez are ready slot them in and make the two backups!! They should sign David, that makes for a great 1-2-3 punch!! Morata, David and Camarda? I’ll take it!!

  2. There us 28% for Milan to catch 5th position at the end of the season, by Opta.
That’s fifth, now imagine fourth…. And even Serie a can stayed with only 4 UCL spots for next season.

  3. Milan should go for Victor Oshimen at €67m. Napoli will accept the offer. Milan won’t make progress if Paulo Fonseca remains the manager.

There is no hope for the Scudetto, UCL, Europa & Conference league under Paulo Fonseca. I blame the management that employed him to be Milan’s coach.

  4. Gimenez with no big club experience and no experience in serie a is gonna flop.
They’re better off buying Bonny for 30M and giving him time to develop with the team.

Tho I think anyone with half a brain knows this management isn’t gonna spend 50M on one player. No way, no how

    1. More importantly he plays in a garbage league. All the players who have left the Eredivisie for big money in recent years have flopped e.g. De Ligt and De Jong.

      1. Idk if they flopped but they definitely haven’t reached their potential.
Tijji came from ere and he’s growing. That’s what we need to find. A ST that’s just on the threshold for a “normal” price.
Gimenez is just the popular option, he hasn’t done anything to warrant that price tag. Abraham could easily bag 20+ goals in ere. So would morata…

  5. If you were going to spend that money then why wouldn’t you go get someone like osimhen who has serie a experience and knows how to score. Problem is milan have never in their history spent more than 40m on a player so why would they start now? Especially taking a player from a rival we havent done that since the early 2000’s.

  6. When will people understand that RedBird is not interested in signing players who cost more than 20 to 25 Million? They are cheap and unambitious. All these rumors are just that: rumors by some journalist in search of clicks.

We’ll get some Joe Nobody for cheap and will continue to be a mid-table team.

My only hope for Milan was that Cardinale would be unable to pay back the vendor’s loan and would leave, allowing the team to be repossessed. He was successful in refinancing the loan until 2028, so, we’ll be doomed.

No more UCL, and beware of relegation to Serie B.

  7. 50M????? Hahahahahaha! Are there STILL are some who actually believe we will sign ANY 50M player??????
    🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Nah – we will just sign Immobile and Balotelli for next season – you know go the cheap route as usual
