Christoper Nkunku could pack his bags and wave goodbye to AC Milan just six months after joining the club, having failed to impress so far.
Nkunku was signed in the final days of the summer transfer window for around €38m, becoming one of the most expensive signings in Milan’s history. Furthermore, he’s the most expensive player in the Rossoneri’s squad currently with an annual cost of around €17m.
In short, the Milan fans and management had high expectations and so far, Nkunku has been a massive flop. He has just one goal to his name, which came in the Coppa Italia, and he has looked more or less invisible in his last appearances.
Meeting scheduled with Nkunku
According to Daniele Longo, discussing the Lazio defeat in his latest YouTube video, Nkunku could leave Milan already in January. The Rossoneri need more goals from whoever starts up front and since a striker signing would likely be expensive, nothing can be ruled out.
“If a striker leaves, a striker will arrive. If a striker doesn’t leave, a striker won’t arrive. I’m convinced that with Gimenez on the pitch, even without the goals, Milan are playing better. There is a rumour that suggests we should pay attention to Nkunku’s future in January.
“We’ll see. In the next few days, there will be a meeting with his agent Pini Zahavi. They will also talk about Lewandowski, even if it remains a very complicated signing in my opinion,” he stated.

36M fee + 9M per season gross. Great deal for the club, Tare needs a statue in front of the stadium as suggested by some. Completely. Nobody managed to take that much money out of Milan for a worse signing. Ever. If he doesn’t sell him for 30M at least he should be fired by next August.
Um I said “IF” Tare pulls off some signing or other – I can’t remember who – he deserves a statue, which for people with your rare condition of having zero sense of humor is called a “joke” – you really don’t have to take everything so literally or get so angry about everything you know 😂
If I remember correctly it was for the potential contract termination of Origi, which he didn’t manage to do. Even though the guy had one more year of contract left and could have gone to some league and played football if Milan paid him out enough of his last year contract. There were some clubs interested but Tare didn’t manage to solve it even though it was the best possible moment to get him out of the club and save a few M€. He didn’t. Even if he did he wouldn’t deserve a statue, that is why I am mentioning it. If you said if he signs Mbappe or Haaland, I would agree with you completely.
Instead he got us Nkunku that will cost double of what Origi cost the club. And he doesn’t look much better.
About the jokes, yeah, I was joking whenever I said something that turned out to be stupid or wrong, you know that, right? 😀
Including potential bonuses its actually 11.57.000 mil gross pr. year the same as Rabiot earns but at least the latter makes him deserve that salary he gets. In fact we have 46mil reamaining on Nkukunkus contract so unless he starts pulling out some thing extraordinary out of his sleeve it would make sense to let him go while we still can reattain some of the cash we paid. I have a hard time though seeing who would bite the bait. Maybe Saudis, A top Turkish team or a bottom to mid epl team Either way I see a huge mountain to climb in front of us.
11.570.000 gross pr. year
You are right, I forgot about that. But still, to get the bonuses I guess he has to do something. 😀 He is a ghost, can’t reach the bonuses like that.
Think its probably depending on matches played + g/a contribution but primarily winning the Scuetto, Coppa ITALIA, Super Coppa or CL.
Nkunku leaving for a striker is IMO better than Giménez leaving for a striker.
For our current system, it’s better to have 2 strikers (Giménez+the new one hopefully) rather than a new striker + 3 wingers (Nkunku, Pulišić and Leão).
Longo has lost his mind…Milan are not better with Gimenez on the pitch. He is by far the biggest flop of the season…how many starts? How many sitters missed? how many fumbling mis-controlled balls? how many results that should have been put to bed where it not for his low ST IQ? Tare wanted him out during the summer, and will likely finish the job in Jan.
The reason Nkunku isn’t missing sitters is he is not even in position to take a shot.
Personally I did not have high expectations for Nkunku right away with one exception – he is busting his arse on the field. I can take the rust and the lack of fitness from being on the Chelsea bomb squad.
I cannot take the stroll in the park that leaves him unavailable and out of position.
The fact that Max is playing him I’ll take as an indication I am missing something. But this guy should get a sniff until after Christmas
“The fact that Max is playing him I’ll take as an indication I am missing something. ”
I think you are missing something. He doesn’t have anyone else to play even if he wanted to. Doesn’t mean he wouldn’t give him a chance but when Pulisic and Gimenez are out what is the choice? Even RLC was injured or recovering so he wasn’t available. Literally the only choice.
Getting absolutely fed up of the immediacy of the modern age. He’s been here a couple of months and you’ve already decided he’s an objective flop. No quotation marks, nothing. Just written off a potential asset and talented player for not immediately finding top form.
Never played in Italy, on the back of some interrupted seasons, in a tactical setup he’s not used to, playing minutes in a team top of the league…
We’re that desperate for a scapegoat for something that hasn’t even gone wrong yet? What’s the reason for the amount of self sabotage that a club’s own supposed fans seem determined to commit? Is Milan failure better for clicks or something?
Nonsense.
Top form? Who said that people are attacking him for not finding top form? He is an alibi player, doesn’t defend properly, doesn’t do anything in attack. He has 7-10 touches per 30 minutes he plays. Even compared to Gimenez he is a literal ghost. How much time do you need to actually try playing football? 28 year old player, experienced super skilled (allegedly, I think he isn’t anymore) player that does nothing. If he pressed, or ran behind the defense or tried dribbling and lost the ball I’d say ok. But wtf is he doing on the field? You seem to have missed the plot completely, if he was in bad form but tried there wouldn’t be articles about him. What interests me more is which self-sabotage? You think Nkunku reads Sempre Milan and that is why he is bad? You can’t sabotage your club or any player by being a fan and commenting on Sempre Milan articles. 😀 That is real nonsense.
No I don’t think Nkunku reads SM and I’m commenting more on the article contents than the comments. But it’s creating, adding to and amplifying a narrative just for the sake of having some content and that’s part of a wider narrative chain.
I’m not saying he’s played well so far, I’m saying that 9 appearances mostly off the bench isn’t enough to write off someone as a flop. And some players take time to adjust. Maybe he won’t go on to be great, maybe he will be seen as a flop, but frankly it’s way too soon to tell that and it’s just because we live in a world where everything must be instant.
Of course it is too soon to say he is a definitive flop, but him doing literally nothing in 350 minutes is a good pointer. He will get more chances of course, but I don’t see how would he improve if he isn’t really trying hard on the field. I never understood when people say someone needs time to adjust to do anything. Example, if you are a dribbler you can dribble past players in a new league from game one unless you are not good enough for the league. Maybe you will not link up with teammates, do the wrong thing, be in a bad position to receive passes or whatever, but you don’t re-learn the skills you have because you moved to another league. You also don’t need to adjust to try, even if it all goes wrong people would recognize and say he is trying. But Nkunku didn’t look like that for 2 minutes of his game time. I would be so happy if I turned out to be wrong and he scored 20 or assisted for 20 goals until the end of season, but we can all see it won’t happen.
Oh yes people like you are very much part of the problem.
Becuase you and the rest create the conditions where these things are accepted.
Last year when I abandoned the team over the treatment of Calabria that should’ve been everyone. The stadium should’ve been empty. There should’ve been a total boycott.
But instead most people on here can barely comprehend why I did it. Why I had to do it.
Most people on here were revelling in the mistreatment of the captain. There’s people on here whose usernames are used to mock former players.
I actually struggle to believe many people on here are genuine fans. That Inter Fan seems more respectful of the club and the players.
Until fans start protesting on mass to this farce it’ll keep happening. Youth players moved on like cattle, players traded like Top Trumps, and a club struggling with identity.
We are so unbelievably fortunate that Allegri has come in and restored some stability. But it’s hanging by a thread. The minute there is a dip the vultures will gather.
I hear you…Fans can be very impatient. But, it is understandable with huge transfer fees adding to the expectations. The bigger the fee the less time fans give you to settle it seems. And Journalists have to write about something! Management are a lot more patient and will give Nkunku opportunity, then it will be up to him, but I must say the clock is probably ticking.
Highest paid players and highest bought players will have to live with the pressure regardless if they are in a new setting especially when they are 28 years of age.
Missed the coppa Italia match as I fell and slammed by face into a concrete step but besides of being a bit bruised I’m fine though but needed a sleep after what happened but what I’ve yet seen from Nkukunku is a lethargic approach and he seems almost unwilling to give his all for the team. Besides of that he doesn’t really seem to fit in the squad.
Well said.
Side Note…AC Milan ladies defeat Napoli ladies 2-0! Good result, tough to watch but…Well done.
I was puzzled by the Nkunku deal, Milan needed to buy a 9 and bought a 10 /11. Not surprised he is taking a while to adjust. No excuses for Gimenez though. He is a pure 9 and THIS was his time to shine and he was given every opportunity, multiple back-to-back-opportunities actually to do just that and has completely demonstrated why Tare wanted to get rid of him all summer.
We cannot recover all money spend with his transfer. Very bad decision to bring him in full transfer. Loan with option had yo be. I think in best scenario we will loose 10 millions euro but I think will be more.
Till now Tare doesn’t impress me at all with transfers. I don’t think Modric is his merit. Rabiot was wanted express by Allegri. I have a big question in my head about Tare abilities.
They were talking with Berta and then we got a literal TEMU version of him, Igli Tare. A guy that is a bargain hunter and worked only at Lazio. His experience is finding players to be 5th, 6th. They did better sometimes but that was his job. And he overpaid for every single transfer but Rabiot (not his accomplishment as Marseille did amazing to reduce his fee as much as possible and Allegri convinced him to join) and the free ones. I have 0 fait he is good enough for Milan. Can’t stand listening him in interviews, you’d think he is one of the best in the business, and he is not in top 100.
Ok, with Allegri ball you only have two up front. Leão will be one and the new 9 will be the other. Pulisic will not stay to be a sub. Best bet is to sell him and keep Nkunku who you’ll lose money on if sold and can be a backup. This is the consequence of hiring Allegri.
If Milan hires a 9, Allegri will probably go to a 3-4-3.
If not he will probably sell Leao. Pulisic is a gold mine
and Milan owners know it.
Pulisic is also the better player, not just a gold mine
We need a front 3. 2 up front seems sterile. They need that 9 to play off.
Just imagine what Maldini would do with such ‘liberal’ spending. One thing he surely won’t do is to spend the selling of Thiaw with the likes of De Winter and Odogu.
Nkunku, well what can I say. We spent our biggest budget to buy someone we (and the coach) literally didn’t need. That’s that. We need a striker, not another attacker.
we needed both to be fair, we got rid of Jovic, Abraham, Camarda, Okafor (who had a good pre season) & Chukwueze and replaced them only with Nkunku and to some extent Saelemaekers. Tare messed the window up badly.
This is so funny…meanwhile, Milan sits top of the table. Allegri literally cannot do any better than that…but here we are.
And what does Nkunku have to do with us being on top of the table ?
Nkunku needs a loan out to get minutes in his legs and maybe some confidence back. Gimenez had a full year pretty much and we’re still not getting goals out of him. I’d offload the Mexican to whomever in the PL and loan out the Frenchman.
That would leave Tare/Moncada with a massive void to fill. So far the odds are not in their favor. Unless they pull of Mateta.
give him some time FFS. We’ve got 4 attacking players in our whole squad.
Remember how garbage Saelemaekers and Messias were week after week but they kept on getting loads of minutes in a team better than the current one? I refuse to believe Christopher Nkunku isn’t good enough for this team.
Unfortunately, I do believe the way that we play is pretty much set up for creative/flair players to fail, and Tare should have known that before signing Nkunku or Allegri.
Because even if their attacking output wasn’t top notch they were trying hard, defending, working for the team. Are you blind?
If i decide to go for christopher for 38mio i have to trust and put convidence on the table. I would not pay that amount for a bench keeper which is not at 100% from fitness Level (his own words) but we did and now we have to deal with that. And Yes you Are right from paqueta, origi to cdk and kalulu thats just a shame
Exactly what happens when Bundesliga statpadding strikers are signed
