AC Milan need to sign a replacement for Theo Hernandez this summer and Maxim De Cuyper is one of their top targets for the position, as per a report.
After selling Hernandez to Al-Hilal for around €30m including bonuses, which will help Milan a lot on the mercato, a replacement now needs to be signed. According to Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, Club Brugge’s De Cuyper is one of the main candidates.

It’s a name that will be familiar to most Milan fans, seeing as the 24-year-old has been linked with the club ever since last year. Per the report, the left-back’s entourage has agreed with Club Brugge that a sale will be sanctioned if an offer of €20m arrives this summer.
Milan to hijack Roma’s transfer?
In the last few weeks, De Cuyper has been heavily linked with Roma as the Giallorossi are determined to secure his signature, looking for an Angelino replacement. However, before they can make any concrete move, they need to sell the latter player.

Milan thus have an advantage in the race and could perhaps present an offer in the coming days/week. For now, however, full focus is on signing another Club Brugge player: Ardon Jashari. The midfielder has a significantly higher price tag at around €35m, making the negotiations tricky.
Then again, all it would take is for the Rossoneri to table a €20m offer for De Cuyper to beat Roma, as the player is more than happy to make the move as well. Perhaps a ‘double deal’ would make their life easier as well…

LBs are a big problem right now… either overpay or have a mediocre player… this guy can become top talent if given chance
sorry for those who believe that Cambiasso or Udogie are actual targets…
Udogie is garbage, anyway
Really? I’ve watched several spurs matches and Udogie looked solid to me each time. He’s comfortable in possession, fast, recovers well and has a good engine on him. And he can get forward and drops back quickly when needed, probably not as good as Theo going forward, but he’s better than Theo at one important thing…defending. I can see why he’s involved in the national team.
Haven’t seen him play but he played more minutes than Theo last season! That’s good!
Theo had just above 4000 minutes and De Cuyper had above 4500 minutes. Much better fitness than Zinchenko lol.
The season before he had over 4000 minutes as well.
That only says he seems like a guy who can play a lot and nothing about how good he is. I don’t know.
What are his strengths? Does anyone know?
the question is if not him then who?
Zinchenko is just Emerson on the opposite flank (not playstyle but the impact he will have); Mykolenko contract expires in 2026 so maybe him? but I don’t really see many LBs on the market…
I am asking because I don’t know.
If it was up to me, Theo and Maignan would’ve had signed extensions with us in autumn. No matter the loss of form.
I truly believe Theo with a summer of rest will be back at his old form.
He signed an extension with us even though we didn’t pay the amount he could’ve been paid elsewhere.
Then we ditched Maldini and played football without any structure.
People forget fast.
Yes, he shouldn’t have taken the penalty and he should’ve been with the team during the water break in Rome.
He only went to Saudi because we threatened him with no playing time.
So how is De Cuyper as a player?
Theo would not work under Allegri because he has no notable defensive attributes. He bombs forward well (well, used to anyway…) but Allegri has a very defensive mindset and Theo is nothing but risky.
We don’t need one. Barteshagi needs to play. He has proven himself at youth level.
Tavares is one of the best LBs in Serie A, but he’s on loan from Arsenal and he’ll be expensive given the excellent season he had with Lazio.
Agree bro. Bartesaghi and liberali play regularly for Italian youth level. I think they have big talents. Sorry to say Milan didn’t see this. Always looking for random foreign soldiers 🤣🤣😂😂. Im not racism or I’m not Italian but without European football, Milan should slim the wages budget. The management should learn from Atalanta method.
We can see Tavares play against Milan last season. He’s tireless monster. I think he better than Theo for some aspects.
Well, he has played 2000 minutes as most in his professional career. Last season he had 2000 minutes and he is injury prone.
Theo played 4000 minutes last season.
Theo has been out of playing form but fitness wise there aren’t many that can handle it the way he does being so quick and all.
I don’t get the lack of interest in Mykolenko, unless he’s specifically not interested in moving. Top player.
Can you guys apply the same logic to Theo as you do to DeCuyper…..”if no big club is after him then he must be trash” right? So only Roma of all teams want him? Ok. Or how about there haven’t been major moves (barring aside Wirtz and a couple.others) in the market, most big clubs seem to have their teams already sorted
You didn’t…🫢🫣
Shhhhhh, you musn’t say that.
Can you apply any logic?
So desperate to make a point that now he tries to compare De Cuyper, up and coming player from the Belgium league with supposedly, according to delusional people, the best LB in the world Theo Hernandez from Milan.
BTW Roma and Milan are bigger clubs than whatever Arabia club Theo is going to because no club kn Europe wanted him and are willing to pay more than team around Europe were willing to pay for Theo.
Oh, I apologize, Como wanted him in January but he was waiting for a big club to come after him. Forget big teams, barely any team wanted Theo.
55 mil for both him and jashari combined lets get it done!
Why not making double deal 50m for duo cuyper + jashari ?? I think cuyper and bartesaghi have a big talents , but the difference it’s they trust with youngsters and Milan didn’t. If bartesaghi have more playing time, Milan no need again to splash money for LB.
