AC Milan are in talks with Villarreal for the transfer of Samuel Chukwueze and the Rossoneri can now officially sign the Nigerian. In fact, the second non-EU slot in the squad has been freed up.
Milan have already registered one non-EU player this summer, namely Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and they can thus just register one more. However, the second slot is only made available if one of the current non-EU players in the squad leaves.
According to Daniele Longo, the Primavera player Kingsford Boakye has left Milan and has thus freed the second non-EU slot. This is the slot that Milan intend to use on Chukwueze who is Nigerian, as highlighted by the journalist.
The negotiations with Villarreal remain tough but Milan are confident that an agreement can be reached in the end. At least now they won’t have to be worried about offloading a non-EU player in order to complete the deal.

Good job. If we get this guy, and Pioli doesn’t mess things up, we will be much more of an attacking force. We should be considered Scudetto favorites, at least as much as Juve/Inter/Napoli.

So that’s likely why it was held up. We couldn’t just fill that spot until one non-EU player leaves. Bureaucratic redtape issue in Italy as expected. So far we’ve done more than Napoli, Inter or Juve. Just remains to be seen if we can keep it together this season.

I’ve been following Chukwueze for a while and I like him a lot. He always appears thirsty for more. I think Milan will be a problem in the Serie A and in Europe next year. This team is now very versatile and opponents will have a hard time countering the different styles Milan will throw at them.
Milan should try to get him in then yunus musah too…if possible swap rebic with amrabat add fiorentina some cash…Timothy castagne will cost just over €12m. Upgrade and competition at RB…then a CB Scalvini from Atlanta possibly on loan wotb… I think €18m can get us morata…then get rid of cdk,adli,pobega,fode,gabbia,messias,rebic,origi…will beat FFP
If this comes through, my problem will be the defence.
Unless, we sign another strong young and versatile defender like Thiaw, then the depth is there all round the department.

The defence is not a problem, but the midfield which acts as a cover for the defence, since Kessie left, our defenders didn’t possess that superstar status anymore and it is normal in any team. That’s why I strongly believe if we were to play with a 4-3-3 formation this season, we will still sign someone like Amrabat, I’m very certain about this, I believe with a few sales, we will sign a more combative midfielder.
This is wrong boakye was in primavera not in the first team soooo we only have one non EU spot but I believe chukwueze is more important than Taremi because we can find someone else or use colombo and lazetic for once . But also we can have a very good and fast rw finally and we can use CAM position again as pulisic can play there with adli as backup and put cdk as lw and if we sell messias and salamaekers we can put romero as second rw
Incorrect. A player departing from the Primavera team does count. If we only had one, we wouldn’t be able to sign any further non-Eu players beyond Loftus-Cheek.
Least this mercato things are getting done, without waiting until the last minute and then losing out many players that would solve the squad issues. Things moving quickly is a nice change.
