Longo: Milan open to January offers as Krunic’s valuation is below €10m

By Isak Möller -

Rade Krunic could leave AC Milan in January as the renewal talks have hit a stalemate. And with Ismael Bennacer on the brink of making his comeback, the Rossoneri have lowered the price tag set in the summer.

Krunic was an important player at the start of this season, showing his qualities in the absence of Bennacer. However, in the last month and a half or so, he has struggled and Milan are now evaluating their options for the future.

According to Daniele Longo, Milan no longer consider the Bosnian unsellable and are open to offers in January. The price tag was €10-12m in the summer, but now the Rossoneri are willing to settle for a lower figure.

The parties have begun talks over a contract renewal but not much progress has been made. Krunic is asking for around €3m, double his current salary, but Milan are willing to offer around €2m. This is another factor that could prompt the sale.

Earlier today, it was reported that Fenerbahce still are interested in the midfielder and that they could make a new offer in January. As Milan’s demand has decreased, the feeling is that a transfer could materialise this time out.

      1. Krunic plays his best games in the Bosnian shirt. For us he’s always been quite mediocre, I can’t think of a central midfielder over the past 23 years that has been as mediocre, not even guys like Samuel Dalla Bonna, Alex Budel, Diego De Ascentis, Federico Giunti were this mediocre.

        1. Are you serious? those players you mentioned can’t even compare to Krunic. Yes , he has dropped off a lot in these last 5 games and everyone had doubts about him being the starter at the base of midfield(until Bennacer gets healthy).
However Krunic was crucial in the Scudetto season and last season was probably his best one where he reached high levels in some important games .
We all wish he would be a back up player rather then a starter in the squad, but some criticism is a step too far. Doesn’t do justice what he has done for the club. I also personally think time has come for him to be sold/traded and replaced with a more physical and hungry player similar to Kessie.

    1. I agree we should have sold Krunic and signed some proper DM but give him some credit man. He was decent for the first 4–5 games before his injury. It’s really not his fault, he wanted to leave in the summer but was blocked by Pioli.

  1. He passes the ball back too much as a DM, given his position the ball should be passed forward. And when he passes the ball forward everybody can see he is not very good at passing the ball. You do not just pass the ball backwards and have 90% passing accuracy and say you have a good match. That is good in terms of cowards’ standards.

  2. How people can defend this guy, moreover say that he was crucial for the scudetto. We won the scudetto DESPITE of him! In all fairness at that Milan he was not playing that much (see the correlation) and the damage he could do was somewhat contained.

But nowadays that he is Pioli’s most solid choice for a starting spot after Maignan he’s wreaking havoc all around every single game. This crazyness must stop in January even if we payed for him to leave it would be the best piece of business he have ever done since buying kaka for 8 millions and just as much impact towards actually winning something.

    1. Oh how quickly fans forget. This very site ppl were praising his performances when Bennacer picked up that injury during the Scudetto run in. And then he proceeded to displace Bennacer for the starting role due to his form (people also forget to this). He was important for us for the Scudetto no doubt. He might not be as crucial as Kessie for instance but he was nonetheless important and was highly praised at the time. This season , before his inury he was well but hasn’t played well the last few games. He shouldn’t be a starter but that’s the choice of management and Pioli, criticize them if anything. Don’t just look at a player and immediately hate him because he’s ok the field. Support your own team ffs

  3. Its not krunic’s fault pioli prefers to start him or that the management prefers to wait for bennacer’s return instead of signing a new regista. At best, krunic should only be considered as a rotation player for a club like milan. Those who persists with him are the ones at fault.

Speaking of regista, milan should really consider signing ricci from torino if bennacer remains injury prone. Milan needs more italians!!
