Longo: Spurs defensive midfielder with €20m price tag offered to Milan – the response

AC Milan are expected to reinforce the team with a defensive midfielder in the summer and several players have been linked with the club. Pierre-Emile Højbjerg is the latest name, having reportedly been offered to the Rossoneri by his agent.

One position that Milan have struggled to cover this season is defensive midfield, often playing with a very attacking-minded midfield tandem. The situation has improved since the recovery of Ismael Bennacer, but later today it will be Yacine Adli and Tijjani Reijnders together.

As a result, the Rossoneri are expected to reinforce that position this summer and several players have been linked with the move. According to Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, Unique Sports Group has offered Tottenham midfielder Højbjerg to the club.

The Dane has a price tag of €20m and his contract with Spurs will expire in 2025. A summer exit appears likely, therefore, but Milan’s response was cold as they are currently focused on other targets. As Longo states, Youssouf Fofana of Monaco is a more concrete target.

It should be noted that Højbjerg’s agency also has Malick Thiaw and Wolfsburg defender Maxence Lacroix as clients. The latter has been heavily linked with Milan in recent months and perhaps a concrete attempt will be made.
