Longoni urges Amorim to face facts regarding disappointing Milan duo

Andrea Longoni has urged Ruben Amorim to face facts regarding an AC Milan duo, deemed not good enough to wear the red and black shirt.

At the start of this season, after deciding to keep them in the summer, Amorim has placed a lot of faith in the abilities of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Pervis Estupinan. Sadly, as was only confirmed against Lazio last night, none of them has been able to impress.

The Ecuadorian once again showed that he’s very mistake-prone, falling asleep at the back post twice, while the Englishman remains a player who should have everything to perform, but simply doesn’t. As such, it might be time for Amorim to face facts.

Time’s up for RLC and Estupinan

In his editorial for MilanNews, which was published shortly after the game finished at Stadio Olimpico, Andrea Longoni wrote that the duo simply cannot continue to get game time. Instead, Amorim should rely on the players who are actually performing.

“The time for experiments is over. Whoever decided to keep Estupinan and Loftus-Cheek this summer was clearly wrong. Acknowledging this now is the best thing to do.

“Amorim must learn from his mistakes. Unsolicited advice: moving Saelemaekers back to the right flank could help the team regain balance,” he wrote.

Regarding the right-hand side, Samuel Chukwueze definitely had his moments against Juventus but as pointed out by Longoni, the defensive balance isn’t always brilliant. Some answers should be provided by the gaffer against Benfica on Wednesday.

  1. Why they dont post my comments?

Chukwueze was again one of the best. His through middle produce first Milan goal.

When Amorim decided to use Estupinan, his job was to cover that left flank defensively.

So it is him left (back), De Winter Pavlovic and Gila – 4 defenders.

Which means, you have all others in attack.

But, but…. Estupinan is not able to defend his flank.

Chukwueze is able to produce in attack.

    1. I don’t know how you watch games but Chukwueze is also a terrible player as a starter. He has a fault in the first goal. And Gila has to cover for him a lot of times because he simply has no defensive IQ or skills. He was lucky yesterday because Estupinan was horrendous. Chuck can be a good sub after 65 minutes when you need a goal or something. But like it happened before, his time will also come and will be benched.

      1. This analysis is not exactly correct. As much as the whole team including chuku should defend as a team, when the wing back (Chuku) moves forward, the CM on that flank (Modric) should drop to occupy the space he left behind but Modeic does not have the athleticism for that. That is you we saw a different game when Musah came in.

  2. Whoever decided to keep them? I mean, Amorim decided, there is no need to camouflage it. Inacio, MC/DMC, SC in January and then a RWB a year from now if we don’t choose to bring back Athekame and a real world class AMRC. Also, 1 more MC and AMC would be required due to Modric’s retirement and loftus-cheek’s departure. P.S. Longoni is very sharp, one of the brightest young journalists…

    UNTIL THEN:
Maignan; Gila, De Winter (*Gabbia), Pavlovic; Saelemaekers, Musah (Modric), Rabiot (Ardon), Moreira; Chukwueze (Hutchinson), Pulisic (Cisse); Ramos (Camarda). Could sometimes even bring Bartesaghi in (play) instead of Pavlovic or Bartesaghi when we are well ahead.

    1. Rino G is an average manager on his best day and he was even able to figure out Milan’s weakness, play out of the back, as RLC is useless at the press and so slow that the Lazio defenders can help make numbers to overload the midfield, where Milan only have two bodies (and on those is physically not able to do what he was previously doing in the last 10 years with ease) and the Milan defenders will not push up to make up the numbers thus free space to run in for the Lazio wide men.
Pervis E is a liability but his ineptness was not something Lazio had planned for but took full opportunity when it became apparent.

We should give Amorim the time to learn from this, as not all the coaches he comes up against wiill be average like Rinho, he need a settled 16 players who can rotate without losing quality and RLC Pervis E can’t be part of that 16, I think Comoto and Bartisaghi should be part of the 16.

      1. Maignan; Gila, De Winter (*Gabbia), Pavlovic; Saelemaekers, Musah (Modric), Rabiot (Ardon), Moreira; Chukwueze, Pulisic (Cisse); Ramos (Camarda)- there you have it, 16 players, 18 (or 19) with Bartesaghi, Comotto and Hutchinson.

  3. Are first eleven player now is Mike gila de-winte pavlovic Samuel chukwueze (salamaker)Musa rabiot moreira cises pulisic and Ramos,

  4. Totally agree with Longoni. His claim about Salameakers is also correct. Chuck can be used behind the striker eventually and compete with Hutchinson. We need proper flanks that can connect with the defence since Amorim is obsessed with 3 men defence.

  5. As per the game’s played soo far,Chukwuweze should maintain the right wing back, statistics prove he has been excellent in assisting and defencively.Moreira is accurate on the goal, they should share the position with Cisse.Pulisic should come in on the right attack he did wonderful. On the left wing back we should keep these for Saelemakers. On the midfielld No.1 option should be Rabiot 100%,then Musa has proven versatile, going forward and defensively. Modric could be used for his experince for only one half, then we have Jashari should be selected after Musa. The keeper should stay the captain as usual Mike Maignan, the three difenders.Gila, and Pavlovic on the flanks then in the centre De Winter has been the best soo far, then Gonzalo Ramos has displayed very good work ethics on and off the ball.Forza Milano forever.
