AC Milan have been struggling on the pitch this season, currently in 9th place, and Gerry Cardinale is under heavy pressure to turn things around. So far, as argued by Andrea Longoni, the approach has only amused the opponents.
After finishing in second place last season, few expected that the Rossoneri would be in 9th place with six games left of the 2024-25 campaign. And even if they were to win all of their remaining games, climbing the standings is not a certainty.
In his latest editorial for MilanNews, the journalist Andrea Longoni discussed the situation, not just in terms of the standings but also the lack of certainties for the future (no sporting director yet). As he signed off, he joked about the promises of Cardinale.
“Cardinale, among the thousand unfulfilled promises, had declared the objective of turning Milan into an extraordinary media company. Here, entertainment is guaranteed, but it only amuses the opponents,” he writes.
Indeed, ever since the start, there has been talk of RedBird turning Milan into a media company in order to make the most of the brand. Of course, it’s very hard to attract engaged users when you can’t even handle the core business: performing on the pitch, where it matters the most.
He wanted a media show but inadvertently created a Freak Show.
Oh well we have at least lately done decently on field, hopefully the team at least can continue winning today and finish off the season with some self respect intact.
Self respect are you kidding, spending 100 millions ending up waaaaay behind clubs such Bologna whose hasnt get 20% of our budget
Self respect, yes. I’m talking about our players winning today, the Coppa Italia and the remaining matches would at least show some sort of self respect from the lot of them. In regard of Bolognas spending well they have spend roughly a bit below half of what we did over the entire season .by the way.
We can’t blame the owner a this point . He has the only and he invested its the management that choose the wrong coach even though some player they bought are not so bad if the right coach as chosen from the start of the season.
We blame the owner for hiring putting together such management team in the first place. He is at the very top of the chain and he will take the ultimate blame.
