Longoni: Moncada ‘dreams’ of signing Rabiot as Milan initiated talks in May

By Isak Möller -

Adrien Rabiot is expected to leave Juventus on a free transfer, with his contract expiring at midnight, and AC Milan are one of the teams inserted. According to the journalist Andrea Longoni, this is the dream signing of Geoffrey Moncada.

Milan are looking to bolster their midfield ahead of next season and in addition to a defensive midfielder, they could also pounce on a mercato opportunity: Rabiot. The Frenchman is not unexpected to renew his contract with Juventus and should thus leave on a free transfer.

The Rossoneri know that it wouldn’t be an inexpensive operation, with Rabiot asking for around €7m per year, but this is perhaps possible with the use of the Growth Decree. As highlighted by Andrea Longoni for MilanNews, it seems they will be able to make use of it.

“In midfield, in addition to a defensive signing, Moncada dreams of Adrien Rabiot: the first contact with mother Veronique dates back to the end of May. The Frenchman’s contract with Juventus expires today. With the possibility of still taking advantage of the growth decree, Rabiot’s salary would cost a little more than the €8m gross that Milan currently pay for Bennacer,” he writes.

Youssouf Fofana is still the primary target for the defensive role, and competition is expected to be tough for Rabiot. In short, it remains to be seen if the Rossoneri will secure the signing of the Juve man.

  1. Moncada Is a clown he has zero experience being a director. He seems to only want French players. Look at inter and Juventus having a solid directors can navigate the transfer market and negotiates. Moncada is a scout not a director. These Americans think we are a baseball team

  2. 8M/season for 3 years for a 30yr old midfielder with a crazy agent (his mom)?? Aren’t we worried about paying commissions, wage caps, future resale value, age, etc…or does that suddenly go out the window when Moncada has a hard on for another French player??

So we won’t sign a 23 yr old midfielder (wieffers) due to price; won’t sign a 23 yr old striker cause of commissions (Zirkzee) despite a lower than normal release clause; don’t sign a 26 yr old striker last season on a free (Thurman) because of wage; haven’t extended Theo or Mike because of wage; etc….i can go on an on – BUT – would be willing to give Rabiot a 3 year deal for 8M season…? Hmmmmmm…ya this will totally go over well with Mike and Theo – they have to beg for increased salary despite being underpaid for years AND being two of the top players in the world at their respective positions – BUT we will gladly throw $$ at an outside player with ease?

Yup makes perfect sense to me 😂 – very sound transfer policy we have with this new management
    🤡

    1. This is the one post this year where I agree with Juro. If this actually happens, Milan should fire Moncada ASAP. Or actually… They should prevent him doing this first and THEN fire him. Let one of the chefs in Milanello do the scouting & player recruitment in the future if this story is true. The chef couldn’t do a worse job.

  3. Every club wants leao, maignan, theo, reindeers, thiaw, tomori …… how is it no club ever wishes to take as director or manager or whatever our 2 clowns called moncada and furlani!!!! We would give them away for free but probably every one knows they are good for nothing!!!!
