Lucas Paqueta’s performances for Lyon have garnered interest from two Premier League sides, and a transfer could have a knock-on effect for Milan, according to a new report.
The ex-Milan midfielder has proven a hit for Lyon and could be the next big name to be sold by the club if the correct offer arrives.
The Chronicle (via Calciomercato.com) report that Newcastle and Arsenal are prepared to battle it out to secure Paqueta, who Lyon value at £58m/€70m.
Crucially, Calciomercato.com state that Milan have a 15% sell-on clause inserted into Paqueta’s contract, ensuring them a handy bonus from the profits should the 24-year-old be sold.
If Arsenal and Newcastle do battle it out to secure Paqueta, the transfer fee is unlikely to be a small one, meaning the Rossoneri could benefit significantly.
Paqueta signed for Milan from Flamengo in 2019, but left for Lyon the following summer, signing a five year contract.
He could have easily been our number 10
or RW just like @Lyon
If I remember correctly, he was used all across the middle and he sucked. My bet is that he’ll get crushed in the physical prem. The only winner here is Lyon. Job well done there.
Milan payed @ 40 mil for Paqueta and sold after a year to Lyon for 20. Even with the ” handy bonus” will end on the negative side.
At least it will be less negative. Look on the bright side¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Better than leaving for 0 €.
best managment in Milan history, smart business guys wherever you look….
Paqueta was Leonardo’s purchase.
But Maldini and Massara sold him
