Tuttosport: Lukaku ‘offers himself’ to Milan – why he ticks boxes for Allegri

Romelu Lukaku will leave Napoli at the end of this season and is now looking for a new team. He has reportedly offered himself to AC Milan.

According to Tuttosport (via MilanNews) this morning, the rift between Lukaku and Napoli cannot be mended, but he seems to want to stay in Italy. As a result, he has offered himself to several clubs including Milan, who are looking for a new striker ahead of 2026-27.

The right fit?

Lukaku has often been linked with the Rossoneri in the past, but his move to Milanello ultimately never materialised for various reasons across various windows. His name isn’t currently on the club’s wish list, but discussions are underway at Casa Milan.

The Belgian has the characteristics Allegri is looking for in his next striker: physicality, hold-up play and an eye for goal. The biggest unknown though is his physical condition, given that Lukaku has spent more time in the treatment room than on the pitch this year.

Perhaps he could be brought in as a ‘second’ attacking addition rather than the main No.9 signing. Meanwhile, the directors are currently looking at other players, like the free transfer duo Robert Lewandowski and Dusan Vlahovic.

They have high costs, so the current favourites are Alexander Sorloth of Atletico Madrid and Gonçalo Ramos of PSG. Also in the running are Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson – currently on loan at Bayern Munich – plus Al-Qadisiyah’s Mateo Retegui and Fiorentina’s Moise Kean.

    1. @ John, I’m not saying he’s the worst option out there, but doesn’t it maybe seem like the previous signings we’ve had over the years? Morata, Jovic, Tammy, Nkunku, players who once had proper and excellent(relatively) seasons a few years back, had excessive injury problems, and we think that we’ll be the club who gets them back to their former glory.

More often than not, that has failed and they were never able to come close to what they previously were. I feel like Big Rom slightly fits into that category now. If we somehow revive even a quarter of his powers he had at Inter, that would be an upgrade for us, but recent history unfortunately tells me, we won’t likely be able to do that, then it’s the same old, 2 years in, we’re looking to offload.
Once he’s gone, or regarded as a flop, we’re back to ‘Attacking revolution planned for Milan as striker issues persist’.

Since there’s a shortage of strikers everywhere, I don’t know honestly who we can buy, but this Lukaku rumour is giving me familiar feelings, which have tended to not end well for us. What you think?

      1. Well, I share your sentiments and of course signing any player is a gamble, but some are safer than others.

Lukaku still looks sharp even after the injury, I think it’s a relationship issue that’s taking him out.

He sure knows how to bully defenders, and I wouldn’t mind that.

Of course my dream would be Osimhen and Sorloth isn’t bad as well, together with Lukaku I would prefer these names to Kean and Retuigi.

        1. Got you… and I agree, any player comes with risk.
Some riskier than others… and I won’t lie, I don’t really pay attention to Napoli games, so I haven’t seen him in a while, so I’m hoping he’s still sharp as you said.

I just have trust issues at this point man, the people who thought Emerson and Morata, were ‘more likely to succeed than not’ when I’m sure 99.9% of us fans said what the hell are you doing? Thought otherwise.

I guess my beef is really with whoever is in charge, rather than Rom himself- and that’s another topic, not this one.

Maters maybe? He seems to have shaken off the knee issue and is eager to prove himself at a top club.

Whew, it’s gonna be a long transfer window, I can already see it “Welcome Nicholas Jackson”😭😭🤣🤣 ya neh… thanks for engagement bro, Rom isn’t the worst option, at all.

          1. 👍👍💯

But hey, no way I’m buy the Nicholas Jackson rumour though, there’s nothing there.

  1. Well if we could get him on a loan deal with a condition to buy if he reaches maybe 15+ goals then I think this could be an excellent opportunity. However I am against shelling out 20+ millions on him since his condition is not really known. There have been way to many revival projects going into the toilet over the last years.

  2. I would bet on Gonçalo Ramos if is possible at a reasonable fee. He’s young and willing to regain his potential . He’s not in PSG squad for nothing…
I think in the right environment and with trust he can be a terrific striker.
