Mediaset: The ‘magical trio’ Conte or Allegri’s would build around at Milan

Despite the fact that this summer will be one of a rebuild for AC Milan, there are still some players that will be vital for the future, for whoever walks through the door.

Across the board, the topic of this summer will be change. Milan desperately need to reshuffle their own pack in order to reshuffle the Serie A pack, and widescale changes are required to make this happen. However, there are some cards which must remain.

As Mediaset reported this morning, there are, in fact, three players who could be the keys to the future, and whether Massimiliano Allegri or Antonio Conte is the leader, the players would remain the same.

Those players are Kyle Walker, Christian Pulisic and Rafael Leao, and there is one defining reason why this is the case – the ability to play a ‘chameleon-like’ 3-5-2 system, which both Italian coaches have experimented with in the past.

Pulisic would be the wide midfielder of the five, with Walker probably sitting behind him on the right-hand side of the back three, perhaps next to Malick Thiaw and Fikayo Tomori.

Reijnders would hold a similar status mirroring Pulisic on the left, whilst the ‘untouchable’ Gimenez would lead the line alongside Rafael Leao – a decision made to ‘relieve him of his defensive duties’ and make him more ‘lucid’ in front of goal.

These three players would also easily facilitate a move into a 4-3-3, for example. Chameleon-like, once again.

  1. You can play 352 / 433 / 4231, it doesn’t really matter. We will always suffer without a proper DM.

    Mike
    Walker Thiaw Gabbia Theo
    Fofana Rovella Reijnders
    Puli Gimenez Leao

      1. Ricci is more of a #8 than a #6, not a real DM imo. Rovella would be perfect.

Of course my dream is Rovella-Ricci as our pivot duo but we all know the chances there.

  2. Yes, DM is a must-have, hands down, no more argument needed. The question is really whether the next coach will need wingers. Wingers are not needed when we bring in a coach with a defensive mindset. Fullbacks or wingbacks are much more relevant.

  3. you cannot change the coach and players without letting go of the people that put this together in the first place so I would start with Ibra

  4. This is the silliest article I’ve ever read. Why exactly is Giminez untouchable? Because he’s been so amazing since he’s been here?
And why would you assume Tomori would be starting over Pavlovic? He doesn’t even play any more and the team seems to be trying to sell him.
