GdS: Mahrez could be Investcorp’s first statement signing but a big financial package is needed

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan need a new right winger this summer and the name of Riyad Mahrez has emerged as an option, according to a report.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports how the hot name of the last few weeks has been Domenico Berardi of Sassuolo but Elliott Management judged the demand of €30m to be too high for a player already in his prime, and that is why the name of Riyad Mahrez has emerged.

Mahrez is Ismael Bennacer’s partner in the Algerian national team and his contract is expiring in a year, but an asking price of around €40m is expected. There could be some concerns about his salary too which is €6m net per season, meaning it would be a big package for a 31-year-old player.

However, the Rossoneri need experienced players of guaranteed quality in their attack and in this sense Mahrez would be a very useful signing, both because he has already got over 40 Champions League appearances and because he has won eight trophies in England.

For Investcorp, the former Leicester star could be the first real statement of intent after the arrivals of Sven Botman and Divock Origi. This season Mahrez has made 42 appearances, scoring 23 goals and adding 8 assists.

  1. he doesn’t have any fire on him he is great player i just don’t like players like him that doesn’t play with fire ,
i wish we get free agent othman dembele he would be the perfect winger for us and a nightmare to defenders in italy and europe

  2. He is good and wonderful to wear number 10 in RW but his price 40m euro for 31 years old that contract left 1 years are over price. Should be around 20-25m euro for standard price. AC Milan pay his salary if just 6m euro nett/years
