Di Marzio: Maignan could be back earlier than expected – Milan’s plan

By Isak Möller -

Mike Maignan’s recovery is proceeding well and the goalkeeper could even be back earlier than expected, which is a huge boost for AC Milan. His replacement, Ciprian Tatarusanu, has provided mixed performances.

The Frenchman underwent surgery a little over a month ago and initial reports suggested that he would be out for at least two months, even a bit more. One and a half months into the recovery, though, the situation is looking very good.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Maignan is already considered clinically cured and as a result of this, he will work fully with the group again soon. During today’s session, in fact, he put on his goalkeeping gloves and that in itself is a huge sign.

Having said this, his return won’t be immediate from when he enters group training again, but rather he will be eased into it. He will get called up for some games and sit on the bench before regaining his spot in the starting XI.
