AC Milan and Chelsea remain locked in negotiations over Mike Maignan, but there is a time pressure to agree a fee.
La Gazzetta dello Sport‘s report begins with: ‘Welcome to Mike Maignan’s Tuesday’. On June 10th, by 20:00 Italian time, we will understand what the fate of the Frenchman will be. The premise: these will be hectic hours, with discussions between London and Milan.

Maignan: Staying or going?
The starting point is not optimal: Milan and Chelsea, this morning, are not sure that the deal can be closed. Indeed, there is growing pessimism despite the fact that negotiations have been ongoing for several days now.
Maignan wants to leave Milan, with whom he reached an agreement in principle for the renewal of his contract in recent days, an agreement that was then pulled away from the table. The old contract, signed in 2021, expires in 12 months, so the Blues sensed a cut-price deal.

Chelsea remain the most interested club but wants to agree the signing by 8pm, when the transfer window for the Club World Cup will close. If the deal does not close today, Maignan could change clubs from July 1st but it would cool everything down.
MilanNews reports that contacts between the two clubs are continuous to try to unblock the deal. At the moment the offer from the English side is still too low (under €20m). The player is pushing to go to London, but Chelsea must improve their offer to the Devil and it is a ‘race against time’.

Put him and Theo left from 1st team, then next year they can go. I will punish them and put example for all players at club. When you put contract you put to the end be profesional and gave everything for club. This 2 punk cant ever again play for our club.
Emberasing is how they talk and doing for club.
So chelsea to give [20milion and above to talk good goalkeeper please chelsea!!!
The club was very unprofessional with Maignan and Theo situation. there was a potential income of over 100m between the two. And now they are selling them for pinuts. Shame on you!!!!
Better to sell for peanuts than to leave for free.
Donna, Hakan and Kessie left absolutely for free.
The club was really unprofessional with this situation. There was a potential income of over 100m between the two players. Now they are selling them for pinuts!!!! Shame on you!!!! 😞😤
Romano:
It’s cancelled!!!
We need Mike for one more season @
Milan should not be the ones under pressure.
The window closes today I guess to prepare for club World Cup. Mike is the one that wants to leave and Chelsea are the ones that need him for the competition.
If Chelsea can’t offer the 25m demanded then they should move on.
And if Mike wants to be grumpy for a failed deal, he can go for a sabbatical for a whole year until his contract expires.
No matter what, no player should hold a club to ransom. The club is always bigger than the player.
I’d keep maignan one more season and give playing time to torriani to prepare him for the future, I think it’s the best outcome for everybody. He can then leave and we promote our youngsters for our future. Nobody is bigger than the club even though Maignan has been played by the management so no hard feelings either
This is the way.
As per Romano the deal is off.
Great the deal is now off. Let’s sign any decent GK or just promote our youngster. Surely better than playing a player whose mind and heart is no longer in Milan.
Chelsea is using the Club WC thing to create a false deadline for leverage.
Milan should tell them to screw off and come back in July. If Chelsea want him now then will still want him in a month.
Milan should feel zero pressure to offer discounts. He’s worth more than 20 mil on the open market.
Milan may think they are harming Maignan by benching him, but if the french coach knows the story and miagnan plays well he will still play for the national team. Milan will only reinforce their deteriorating reputation.
You must think that this game is like some 9-5 job.
Do you think after sitting out a whole year with no talking points, performance and highlights at club level, he would just enter into a negotiation with another club and demand a huge salary?
For a player on his last year contract and would be a free agent, every opportunity must be grabbed to boost his market value.
What if France perfomes abysmally at the world cup and his value further decreases?
Players don’t think like you do, if you’ve ever played sports, you wouldn’t have said what you said.
Remember when Balotelli was in hot demand and Berlusconi refused to sell until after the world cup, with the hopes that Italy will perform well then he can sell for even more money, but after Italy poor performance at the world cup, his value even further reduced by half the asking price and a lower salary.
And that was for Balo, a hot commodity who played a full season.
If Maignan sits out a season and has an average world cup, I bet you he’s heading back to the French league.
