Mike Maignan and Alessandro Florenzi both trained with the AC Milan group for the full session on Wednesday morning ahead of the game against Atalanta, a report claims.
As has been reported by Antonio Vitiello for Milan News, the French goalkeeper and the Italian defender took another step towards getting back on the pitch on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, they both returned to training at Milanello with the group but did not do the full session. Wednesday saw them complete everything that the fit players did, meaning they are both very close to a return.
Whilst Florenzi’s return will provide some very useful depth at wingback, Maignan’s return is the bigger news for the team.
The goalkeeper is a vital part of the starting eleven and he has been out since before the World Cup began in November 2022.
There is now hope that he could even start the game against Atalanta at San Siro on Sunday.
Although Alexis and Junior perform decent in the new wing back position, I wonder how Florenzi would do in that post. It seems like the position will be perfect for his kind of playing style. All in all, great news.
