CorSera: Maignan happy at Milan as management prepare to reward him

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are blessed to have one of the best goalkeepers in the world as his recent performances with France demonstrate, and work could soon begin on extending his deal.

That is according to Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) who report this morning that the Milan management are already thinking about extending Maignan’s current deal, which expires in 2026 and is worth €2.8m net per season.

The idea is to shift that deadline further away and to give him a pay rise to recognise his status as being among the elite players in his position, while the Frenchman has already reiterated to the management that he feels good at Milan, that he wants to stay and that he considers Milan as a destination and not a stepping stone.

Maignan has also not asked for a pay rise but the risk of losing a phenomenon like him is one that Maldini and Massara do not wish to experience, so they are planning to move in advance, hopefully with Champions League qualification in the bag.
