After sub-standard defeats in recent years, we have often seen AC Milan head towards the fans to listen to frustrations. Yesterday, that didn’t happen.
Several images come to mind when you think of disappointing away performances, but some of the most poignant involve the team huddled around the bottom of the away stand. Not to reassure, but to listen.
Against Sassuolo, the jeers were louder than ever, with Milan gifting the Champions League race the continuation of its status as a race. So, it would’ve been an opportunity to listen and hear the thoughts from the Curva. Instead, it was avoided.

Milan and Maignan avoid criticism
As Gazzetta dello Sport writes, when the full-time whistle sounded, the players began to go over to the fans as whistles and jeers rained onto the pitch. Rather than going and accepting them, though, Mike Maignan invited his team to leave the pitch.
Given that the Frenchman is the captain, it puts the team in a position where they must decide where to go. Leaving the captain sends a signal of internal worry; leaving the fans suggests a fear of the external worry.
What is important is this. Neither situation looks good. Neither situation feeds hopes of a turnaround. Neither situation gives the idea of a collective group.
It all feeds into the fears of the Diavolo having a weak mentality – as seen with their scoring issues and defensive solidity fading – and the avoidance of criticism from those who made the 200km journey is telling.

Yet Gabbia is always the one speaking to media after defeats. A silent leader.
This is a team without a captain clearly. Remember the fighting between Theo and Rafa about the captains armband? This isn’t something new, it’s something that has never been addresses since Calabria left, in fact it can go even further to the time Abate left.
What salaries are the players on? weak mentality is just an excuse.
Don’t make a mountain out of a molehill.
Why pouring your anger towards the players when the coach ans management are there?
The players have done their best, and that was the message Maignan was trying to pass to the fans.
Playing without a plan B when things aren’t working was what Pioli lacked, I sincerely do not see any reason why Allegri should remain.
Players are confused from defense to midfield to attack, we are very disjointed.
We play defensively against big and small teams, we played yesterday like we are a team battling relegation, and we have no escape because saviours like Rabiot (who have saved us a lot this season) are low in spirit and form.
The players should revolt for all I care, and speak to the management. We need a proper coach with attacking flair, they would have been tired of this poor performances week in week out all in the name of defending.
Rubbish.
