Last night, the latest case of Mike Maignan being magic was displayed, and it comes with an unfortunate side effect for AC Milan.
A massive penalty save that could define a season, Maignan was flawless last night, leading the team in every way. You are only as strong as your captain, and Maignan was phenomenal at San Siro on Sunday.

A painfully brilliant reminder
Whilst there is joy about his save and what it means in the immediate, and potentially further future, it also brought a bit of regret, again.
As Gazzetta dello Sport write, every time Maignan is ‘magic’, the issue reappears. After the Gatti save against Juventus, then against Zappacosta in Bergamo, and now, after the penalty save against Paulo Dybala.

The Rossoneri are left in awe, grateful for their French shot-stopper. However, awfully aware of the situation which they face. It is ‘increasingly apparent’ that his future lies away from the club, even if Massimiliano Allegri stated that he had no role in keeping him this summer.
In two months, he can discuss a new home, and with the stalemate continuing at Casa Milan, it is difficult to imagine him at the club next season, at least for now. A deal was there, and the Diavolo stepped away. Now, they are left to sit with regret.

It also depends how does Milan do this year. I honestly doubt he’d leave for Chelsea to fight for 4th spot. That is their level and I don’t think they’ll go up from that in the next 3-4 seasons. If Bayern went for him that would maybe be a good move for him, everything else, not really.
Well said bro. If he decides to leave I’d like him to make a really good move.
For Milan to keep him they’d have to bump his pay significantly, to reflect his value to the club. And you know how well that goes for anyone not named Leao.
Didn’t they offer him 5.5M net? And he has 3.5 right now? That seems reasonable…
You probably think he is worth 10m/yr which even Chelsea wont offer him
we wont pay that, get used to it
I love Mike and want him to stay he is a very good keeper but if his desire is to leave he should, he has been at Milan a long time and I feel most players need to move on after a cycle or two to refresh their careers, minds.
Just because talks haven’t begun doesn’t mean it can’t happen. I think it all depends on this new project with tare and how far we can go in this season.
His performances have Improved but he’s also injured too often for a gk and on the wrong side of age. I’m happy to keep him and I’m ok if he leaves too.
Torriani will be better than him in a year already i feel.
Torriani , terracciano and a 3rd keeper of Terra’s level is fine for next year
You are just dead wrong.
Maignan’s ability with his feet is rare, and his shot stopping abilities are unrivalled on the day.
We should try to renew on an improved deal compared to the old offer and compensate for pulling out of the previous agreement.
