MN: Maignan will be reinstated in Milan’s Champions League squad

By Isak Möller -

Mike Maignan has made a swift recovery from his wrist surgery and will make his return tomorrow, as AC Milan will face Sassuolo. 2021 was initially deemed to be over for his and the recovery, in that sense, is remarkable.

The Frenchman will play from the first minute tomorrow and as the San Siro will be sold out, he will get a warm welcome back from the fans. Hopefully, there won’t be any complications with his wrist, which shouldn’t be the case per the medical staff.

As reported by MilanNews, Milan will now also reinstate Maignan on the Champions League squad list. He was replaced by Antonio Mirante as his injury was deemed serious and would take longer than 30 days, which UEFA regulations require.

The regulations also state that the goalkeeper can now be brought back into the squad, at the expense of Mirante, as it has been more than one month since the injury emerged. Good news for Milan, who will have him available against Liverpool.
