MN: Maignan one of Milan’s heroes again – his incredible record in 2022 continues

AC Milan got three fundamental points yesterday at San Siro as Rafael Leao’s late winner saw over 71,000 fans go home happy.

As MilanNews recall, Leao took advantage of an error in distribution from Terraciano and ran into the box before finishing low through the crowd to secure three golden points for Stefano Pioli’s team, who once again have Mike Maignan to thank.

The French goalkeeper, a few moments before Leao’s goal, made a brilliant stop to deny Cabral’s header with an incredible reflex stop where he kept out the initial effort and then smothered the rebound too.

The former Lille man has now reached 15 clean sheets in 29 league games and in 2022 he has conceded only eight goals, which is second place in the ‘top five’ European leagues as only Liverpool let in less (6).

In the absence of Ismael Bennacer, Maignan became the director of the Rossoneri’s attacks as he managed to find the attackers in behind many times. Pioli knows that he has multiple weapons to use, and with 7 points needed for the Scudetto they will all be used.
