Mike Maignan arrived last summer with the tough task of replacing Gianluigi Donnarumma, but he has so far passed the exam with flying colours.
Tuttosport (via MilanNews) writes how Maignan more than a simple goalkeeper because he is a leader, a modern player for his position and a team man. His impact at Milan has been exceptional and the Frenchman has become an extra leading voice in the Scudetto charge.
Of the 66 points obtained so far by Milan in Serie A this season, at least 20 bear the signature of Maignan because the number of game-saving stops he has made is very high. With the result still in the balance, the former Lille man repeatedly came up trumps for his team.
There are three wins in which Maignan did not have to use his hands, namely the 1-0 victory with Sampdoria which came when he sent a pass over 70m through to Rafael Leao for an assist. Mike also has the knack of being handle possession like a Regista, and the Maldini-Massara duo deserve praise for finding another gem.
