As expected, Mike Maignan and Adrien Rabiot have returned to the AC Milan training ground to begin training ahead of the new season.
Maignan and Rabiot returning today has certainly caused a bit of controversy. Indeed, it has been a mainstay in the papers this week and it has caused quite a discussion around the club. Of course, it’s going to, though.

However, Ruben Amorim has looked to protect his players, stating that the decision was his after the win against Manchester United yesterday.
“Rabiot and Maignan had more days off because they played more. That was important to me.
“Everyone complains about the number of games and the players being unable to cope with the strain, and I gave the players those extra days because I already knew they wouldn’t be able to play today’s match. So I gave them three more days. Nothing will change. And I need to say that it was my decision, not the players’.”
It makes a lot of sense, of course, and now it must pay off with them being ready for the first weekend of the season.
Maignan and Rabiot return
There is only a week until that first game against Torino, but Amorim seemingly has a plan.
According to MilanNews, the duo have reported for training this morning – which started at 11:00 CEST – and general tests will likely be conducted to see their fitness levels. Tomorrow, they will rest, and then on Tuesday training will resume with the full team.
Of course, this is big news in itself that Amorim will have the full group together for the first time. After this weekend’s win though, there can be some optimism for the season.

It doesn’t make that much sense, don’t you dare receding now!
We need(ed) from the first official match, demand that respect!
But what do you know about football and player management. You read the biased news reports and think you understand the situation? Just trust Amorim’s judgement who has actually spoken to the players and can be expected to know what they need as a former player himself.
Exactly. Drama queening over something like that for too long now. 😀
For a start, I certainly know more about that subject than you do, I’ve noticed your comments, you post as if you are on cardinale’s payroll
or something so I can’t take anything you write seriously. Just so you know, RA needs to talk like this in order to keep the whole situation under control; you shouldn’t trust everything you read, that’s naivety. Do you really expect me to believe that it was idea to extend?! Please.
You all seem to forget that we had one game per week last season
due to early eliminations from SI and CI & missing (the) European competitions. What were they tired/resting from then? Remember,
one game a week and they claim they are exhausted and drained out? The only excuses I can think of is that short and limited roster we had and that they were psychologically affected because we missed UCL but it can only justify this behaviour of theirs to an certain extent. Maignan and Rabiot are both grown up professionals, mature men.
This is rich, coming from the guy who posts his fantasy football lineup 3 times under every post 😂. And for the record, I hate Cardinale as much as every Milan fan out there. I just choose to be positive every new season again until proven otherwise.
Cooked him 😹
hahaha Mati! That feeling will also soon fade. Give it (and Cardinale) time and he’ll destroy your hopes and dreams too. 🙂
At least I don’t write as a poltroon. As much as EVERY fan? There are still many fans that worship that idiot and are willing to give him one more chance to turn things around. Suso, you clueless mo*on, keep your stupid mouth shut.
When you “know” something, you stick to it without having to prove anything to anyone. This isn’t the place to prove people wrong. This is a place to post your thoughts, sling sh1t and grow a thicker skin.
You do you.
I am not trying to prove anyone wrong (that’s exactly what I have been saying the whole time), I really don’t know what gave you that impression.
