AC Milan have granted a few extra days off to Mike Maignan and Adrien Rabiot, who will therefore not play a single friendly.
As La Gazzetta dello Sport report this morning (and as MilanNews said), Ruben Amorim granted the squad three days off after they landed back in Italy over the weekend. training will resume on Wednesday. Joining the group will be Christian Pulisic, Santiago Gimenez and Mario Gila.

Gila returned directly to Milan from Perth for the final stage of his rehabilitation following a right rectus femoris injury. The Spanish defender hopes to be available this Saturday in Wrocław for the final friendly against Manchester United.
However, it will be a few more days before Maignan and Rabiot join their team-mates in training. The two French players – fresh from the World Cup third-place play-off, which they lost to England in Miami on July 18 – will begin working with the squad only on Sunday.
Extra days off
Maignan and Rabiot secured a few more days of vacation than almost all their team-mates involved in the World Cup. Estupiñán, Leão, Gonçalo Ramos, Saelemaekers, De Winter, and Jashari returned after three weeks and rejoined the squad in Perth.
Modrić also arrived in Australia after enjoying some extra relaxation time. The Croatian landed on August 2nd rather than July 29th, as originally scheduled. Now, the two French players have been granted four additional days of leave.
They were initially expected at Milanello on Wednesday for the resumption of training but received the club’s approval to return the day after Ferragosto. They have more vacation time compared to many of their compatriots, as well as other colleagues who played in the final, like Lautaro Martínez.
It remains to be seen what choices Amorim will make ahead of the league opener away at Torino on Sunday 23 August. Mike and Adrien are keeping fit with specific training programs sent by the coaching staff, but they will still need to adapt to the new footballing philosophy.
Naturally, they will require a few days of training. However, the Rossoneri might need Maignan immediately, even with only a week of practice under his belt. It is not just because he is the starter and captain: his back-up, Pietro Terracciano, has not played a single minute in the friendlies.
He only returned to training on Friday, the eve of the tour’s final match, after dealing with a left hip issue that caused pain when diving. While the former Fiorentina keeper’s problem now seems to be clearing up, he too has been able to do little to no work so far.
The only one with match minutes this season is the third-choice goalkeeper, Lorenzo Torriani, who pulled off some fine saves in both the derby and the match against Chelsea. If Terracciano is not deemed fit and ready for the game against United on Saturday, Torriani will once again get the nod.
Mercato indications?
Regarding the transfer market, Maignan and Rabiot are considered key figures in the project and hold long-term contracts with Milan: the midfielder is signed until 2028, and the goalkeeper until 2031.
Officially, no offers for them have reached the club’s headquarters, and neither are for sale. The management have shown no willingness to let them leave. It remains to be seen whether anything will happen in the coming days and in what frame of mind the two will return in.
Both still have disappointment over missing out on Champions League qualification. Both avoided discussing Milan during the World Cup, and the goalkeeper even removed all photos related to the club from his social media.
Could trouble be brewing? We shall see. If Maignan does not play against Torino, the captain’s armband will go to either Gabbia or Modrić. Leão, following his comments in late May, has dropped down the list of potential captains.
They both keep in shape during vacation so I don’t see any problems. Rabiot will come back and be better than Jashari or Ricci in 2 minutes. I am more worried about having “talents” that can’t move “old men” from first team, both in club and national teams.
I bet they are both looking for a way out already. I wouldn’t be surprised.

What? LOL. Mbapee and Tchouameni are joining the Real Madrid team this week. Same as Rabiot or Maignan. Why are whining again? The played their last game on 18th of July, others were out of the tournament weeks before.
I’m not whining. Have they extended their vacation like Maignan and Rabiot (and Modric for that matter, I missed that completely)? If so, you have my sincere apologies. Three and a half weeks are more then enough for a good rest.
No, they got until 11th of August right away. But if they asked they would since they also keep in shape during their vacation. Which rest? They all train daily. Every single day. Rabiot, Maignan, Tchouameni and Mbappe. They maybe rested for 7 days in total and then begun preparing for the new season.
More than enough for a vacation, for a period when they are not with the rest of their teammates which is the biggest and maybe the only issue here really. They are taking too much time whether you want to admit that and agree with me or not. Of course they keep in shape while they are away, I wasn’t questioning that at all.

It’s tough to have a captain who’s a rotational figure at his position. While they both have leadership qualities, Maignan always starts. Makes sense that he has the armband.
Agree, Maignan is just afraid of going elsewhere, he knows he won’t get the same treatment as he enjoys in AC Milan.
I hope we sell Maignan. I hope he asked for a few more days so he doesn’t have to come here. We can’t even say that he always defends well, we won’t be sorry if he leaves.
