Last night, France were beaten 3-1 by the Italian National Team, and following the game, AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan spoke to the press about his feelings, and moving forward as a unit.
As a goalkeeper, you can only control so much, and it has been a poor start to the season for Maignan. In a Milan shirt he has conceded six times, and taking into account last night’s fixture, he has now conceded nine goals in 360 minutes – one goal every 40 minutes.
There have been questions asked about the Frenchman in recent times, especially considering the goalkeeper’s current contractual situation. However, with him keen to renew with the club, and his demands not being extravagant, it seems likely it can be solved.
Of course, the demand for his signature will live on past a potential extension, after all, he is one of the best goalkeepers in the world and a fantastic example of the modern-day goalkeeper.
Following the defeat to Italy, Maignan spoke to the press about the result, and his words have been relayed by Milan News.
“It’s a defeat that hurts. It was a bad day, we found a great team that defended well. We cannot close every game with an unbeaten goal. I took it badly, the group took it badly.”
On Monday, France play Israel…
“We have to recover immediately – explained the Milan goalkeeper -. What is said in the locker room stays between us. We will discuss it tomorrow. There is no need to worry. When we lose a game, it’s not the end of the world. We all have a role to play on the pitch. We know we have to do better, the French team has to win. We will not look for excuses, we will question ourselves and move forward.”
Rumor has it that mike ripped everyone a new hole in the locker room after the loss to Italy. So much so that no one dared say anything afterwards. Mbappe and Griezman sitting quiet like sheep.
Good to hear he still reacts badly to a loss. One only fears that losing become part of our normal at Milan and every body has lost their competitive spirit. Who will lead?
This man has that captain mentality, imagine having a person who voice out at the France players and nobody dared raise or alter a single word
Um… did Tonali play in that match?
