CM: Maignan renewal paused as Milan consider sale and swap – the details

It seems that everything is done regarding Mike Maignan’s AC Milan renewal, but a late change is possible, with the Rossoneri considering another option.

The summer mercato is never an easy period, especially for Milan, and it seems that the club are considering a different route, which could heavily backfire if not conducted perfectly.

As Calciomercato.com write, the Rossoneri are ready to sign a deal with Maignan, with only the final signatures left to be confirmed before the renewal is finalised. However, it seems the parties prefer to ‘take a break’, rather than confirm things now.

The main factor behind this decision appears to be Lucas Chevalier, who is six years younger than Maignan, and also plays for Lille, like the current starter used to. With his deal expiring in 2027, there are certainly no guarantees.

Should a move for Chevalier not be be feasible, it is likely that the Diavolo would then consider Marco Carnesecchi from Atalanta – though where this would rank in the situation is unknown.

If, and it is a big if at that, the club decide on moving towards someone new, then Maignan would depart this season given his own contract expires in 2026, and with no renewal, the clock is ticking already to finalise a decision.

  1. Players who helped us get back up and win Serie A with their heroics, players who are considered as top players in their position among football experts, hit a period of bad form and are suddenly deemed as persona non grata. While the likes of Chuk, Musah, RLC, Emerson who are actually useless regardless of their form, get to live another day.

It’s not like this whole club is a fire dumpster right? We need to scapegoat our stars.

It’s just a pretext because they threaten their salary cap regime.

    1. if these management are the management milan had in the era of Berlusconi most players who have been sold in their prime. i think maignan have had blunders and commit errors as much as Dida and Abbiati did .. lol

Too many gifted goal from those two great keepers

    2. Not sure what you mean – RLC Emerson and Chuk are all on the chopping block – the only one who might stay is Musah… Maignan meanwhile has regressed and (apart from this season) always injured…

  2. its probably because no matter what change happens in the team, they play the same. Certain players could have influence of the rest behave.

that or because Maignan has been terrible this season.

  3. I would prefer Maignan sign his renewal now before he changed his mind. Back then Kessie also want to sign extension with us until they suddenly want to increase the salary.
