Mike Maignan was spotted leaving San Siro requiring crutches to walk after coming off injured during AC Milan 1-0 Bologna.
It was a rather strange development when early in the second half Maignan dropped to the ground inside his own box and instantly asked to come off. He hobbled off the pitch and was replaced by Pietro Terracciano, with the hopes being that it was just a tweak.

The images that came out after the game though do not fill anyone with much hope. The Frenchman was seen leaving San Siro walking with crutches, which certainly suggests a more serious injury, while waiting for scans.
Allegri’s words
In his post-match interview, Massimiliano Allegri was asked if he had any update on Maignan’s condition.
“I definitely don’t think he’ll be there in Udine; his calf is a difficult one. Terracciano had a good debut at San Siro, I’m very happy, and we also have Torriani, who is very good.
“The important thing is to work as a team like we did tonight, and even in difficult situations, it’s important to have the right spirit, one small step at a time.”
Hopefully he recovers quickly, though it’s definitely not a good sign. At least it’s not his knees, which gave him so much trouble a few years ago.
Last year he actually played all games in all tournaments, but two – the thrashing of Sassuolo for unknown reason and 1 serie A game for yellow cards, so I don’t buy into the ‘glass figure’ narrative.
I already imagine Furlani proposing another mil lower salary for future negotiations…
If they sign new contract with him it a joke, he gets injured every autumn at least this time not on international duty. Seel him in January or bench him if our back ups play decent enough.
It crazy if they pay him 6m as year we will have top earners be a GK that has big health problems every year while we have a salary cap 😅

I’ve never seen a GK injured this often.
But he remains a legend. Shame they didn’t give Torriani a chance.
They should’ve renewed Sportiello and given Torriani a chance. Signing Terracciano blocks Torriani and probably also denies Terracciano.
Torriani was not on the bench for this game. They played him earlier in the day for the Futuro . Rather than another game as 3rd choice keeper on the bench. A different youth player was 3rd keeper for this game.
Fairly sure that Torriani will get some 1st team minutes if this injury persists for Mike.
I don’t agree that Sportiello should have been retained and Terracciano not signed.
Sportiello never game me much confidence and asked to leave. Terracciano is 2 years younger and seems more solid. A worthy upgrade IMO.
Never saw a good explanation of how he injured his hand at the hotel in America on last year’s preseason tour.
Do agree that Torriani needs more opportunity. He seems to have great potential and it would be fantastic to have an academy product as our number 1 keeper.
At some point they have to give Torriani a chance.
The idea of keeping Sportiello was precisely because he wasn’t ’good enough’ (albeit with over 160 Serie A games under his belt including for a club that regularly finishes above Milan in the league). so to force the situation with Torriani.
It’s the same with so many of these endless signings whilst everyone waits and waits and waits and waits for players to be ‘ready’ (oh and they’re now in their late-20s having played for 6 different clubs).
I don’t know how many times there need to be failures before people start questioning the system. (PS Torriani probably has zero chance of ever ‘making it’ and Milan will likely sign a new keeper every year for the next 10 years).
Poor Mike. I wish him a quick recovery. Injuries suck. It was funny that Gabbia said that Terraciano helped the team a lot. Bologna had 0 shots on goal. So we could have hade Giroud in goal basically 😛
Wishing him a speedy recovery…however, makes one wonder if a new contract is even worth all the effort. Him moving on might just unlock the Torriani we believe is capable of stepping into his shoes. This injury might be a crossroad moment for Milan (give Torriani a chance or Chelsea backing off and forces Mike to rethink his position)…let’s hope for the best possible outcome, although I lean towards the former…
I’d love to see Torriani step up and prove he’s our next keeper, but with a must-win trip to Udine before Juve and Napoli, Allegri will probably trust experience and play Terracciano.
