Theo Hernandez and Davide Calabria are certainly controversial figures among the AC Milan hierarchy currently, but they still have in-house support.

All season, Theo has been a controversial figure and he has regularly been criticised, and after Calabria’s avoidance of Paulo Fonseca on Wednesday both are set to be dropped this weekend. However, Mike Maignan has posted a message of support for them today.

With Maignan probably among the choices to be the captain this weekend in their absence, perhaps it is nothing more than a sign of his leadership and view on team morale. At least this would be the preferred option rather than him supporting their situations.

  1. To justify it Calabria was wrong tomori too is a problem but Theo is not really a problem but Fonseca you must be strong and bring perfection in the 4-2-3-1.

    1. Bruh, theo has been the laziest player with the worst attitude. Calabria refusing to shake hands was at least understandable because it was yet another dumb decion by Fonseca

  2. You say Theo has been regularly criticized.
But you didn’t say that he was RIGHTLY criticized.
His performances this season have been damaging.
We lost 6 points purely from his Parma and Fiorentina performances alone,

We would have been challenging for the Scudetto otherwise.

  3. I’m sure an economist out there could come up with a graph that shows the correlation between the length that a player has been at the club and fans’ disdain for them.

  4. If all the players start supporting one another and don’t see that one of them is in the wrong, there is little the coach or the management can do about it.
It’s one thing to bench a player or 2 to sanction him, but no one can afford to essentially alienate all the big players of the team.
Realistically or even ideally you can’t bench or sell all of the players, especially those who still perform very well, just because they sided with their teammate.

    1. If you have to pick sides, do you side with some fella who turned up a few months ago, or several fellas who delivered our third Scudetto this century.

There’s such a thing as loyalty. In fact it’s the entire point of supporting a team.

      1. There is no general answer to that question, and it depend on the context. Osimhem was instrumental to Napoli in their scudetto season, yet right they’re doing better without him. In 1991, there were tensions between Van Basten and Sacchi and one of them had to go.
I did agree in the beginning of the season with Fonseca when he saw that Leao and Theo weren’t doing enough, and benching or criticizing a player doesn’t mean I want them gone. But right now there are too many instances of players having some sort of a problem with the coach for it just being a player thing.
Theo was always undisciplined, so it’s not a surprise. Tomori was reckless before but never indisciplined. Calabria was never known to be an indisciplined player either and right now we have Maignan siding with them.
Maybe Maignan is biased, but he is in the locker room with the players and the coach and he certainly knows stuff that I don’t. So are we gonna do, bench Maignan as well, who did nothing wrong and is one of the best players this season who turned many losses into wins ?
So in short, I’m more and more leaning towards blaming Fonseca even for the players’ poor behaviour.
