There is pessimism filtering out regarding Mike Maignan’s renewal, a report claims, despite the fact AC Milan convinced him to stay.

Little optimism
Milan have their own issue, and it is ‘not a small one’. Maignan’s contract renewal was discussed in June, then it seemed to go quiet and a move to Chelsea appeared imminent. Massimiliano Allegri’s arrival put an end to all the speculation about a summer move, however.
Max’s agreement with the French goalkeeper dispelled any doubts that he might leave for Stamford Bridge, but the issue remains that he has less than a year on his contract and at present a renewal does not seem imminent.
In fact, the paper goes on to state that dialogue between Maignan’s representatives and the Rossoneri management is ‘effectively frozen’. In short, everything is still up for grabs, but the gap between offer and demand leaves little room for optimism, at least for now.
Tuttosport spoke earlier today about potential replacements for Maignan, from Parma’s Zion Suzuki to an internal solution such as the young Lorenzo Torriani. It is important for Milan not to be caught unprepared.

Furlani and Maldini aren’t in the same position, you can’t compare that. Maldini got fired because he publicly disagreed with the management at the time.

Should have been sold 2 years ago, last year, this summer. Should have taken the 15 mil Chelsea was willing to pay. He isn’t Gigio or Courtois for Milan to asks 30 mil when he only has 1 year left on his contract, coming of 2 very poor seasons.
Maignan is a hero at the club in my eyes. Nothing less. He has been worth so much for us and saved us way more than i believe we can imagine.
So for the love of the game and any thing that matters pay him a handsome salary that he deserves- if anything it will only motivate players to stay at the club and do well if they can see that it is being rewarded. If we dont reward good players no one with talent would want to invest their time in our club. Also we need stability and cant afford to loose more integral players.
Amen. There’s no gratitude toward scudetto heroes, we know that by now, nor any desire to keep the leaders. The baseball algorithm doesn’t value such things and we know the results.
Mike leaving is the same reason puli hasn’t renewed yet – lack of a relevant sporting project. Puli would be wise to do what Reijnders did – use Milan as a spring board, showcase his form and move to a better club with a winning project. Can’t blame Mike for wanting to do the same.

This is also on Allegri as he is going to cost the team money. He blocked Mike’s move to CFC for a reported 18ml. Now, he’ll leave for free.
The way midget furlani insulted and must have hurt Maignan by withdrawing the agreed pay for his renewed contract is the reason for this sad situation.
Was furlani’s pay ever reduced after the huge mess that he has made in milan?
