Despite avoiding any serious muscle issue, Mike Maignan is still expected to miss at least the next two games for AC Milan.
Ealy in the second half of Sunday night’s win over Bologna, Maignan limped off with what appeared to be a calf problem. A long-term absence was instantly feared when he was seen leaving San Siro on crutches, suggesting a quite severe muscular problem.

Despite this, the scan that the Frenchman underwent on Monday morning at Milanello brought positive news: Maignan has not sustained any bad damage and will be evaluated day to day.
Two games out?
However, Il Giornale (via MilanNews) reports that Maignan will still ‘certainly miss multiple matches’ starting with Saturday’s league match against Udinese and Wednesday’s Coppa Italia match against Lecce.
While Pietro Terracciano will likely be in goal in Udine, it’s possible that Lorenzo Torriani – who the club believe in a lot – could be in the starting line-up for the game against Francesco Camarda’s Lecce in the cup.
In the summer, Paulo Fonseca’s Lyon asked about signing Torriani, but Milan gave a firm no to the French club because they are strongly banking on the 20-year-old both for the present and above all for the future.
We all know that Allegri will play Terracciano in typical boring Italian style, but I really wish they’d just give Torriani a run of games now and see what he can do. If he gets through it, then we know he is ready and we can make him out first choice Keeper next season. If not, then we can send him on loan in January and see what happens.
Terracciano was another pointless signing that ruins two players at once.
The club had Sportiello but with a broken squad needed to prioritise the sub-goalkeeper role just in case it was forced to play Torriani.
Torriani of course puts in top performances in pre-season-what’s-the-point-of-these-games-if-performances-make-no-difference but, alas, like so many, to no avail.
The only player I remember really forcing the club’s hand in pre-season was Cutrone who was all set to the loaned to death when he scored a brace against Bayern.
He then outscored every striker they through at him until finally succumbing to the ‘long term’ replacement Piątek….(who lasted a year…).
Agree with everything here, but the part about Cutrone. Cutrone went nowhere. Neither did Piatek, but we’re not missing Cutrone.
What?? Cutrone had one good season with us, in 2017-18.
He didn’t outscore all striker they threw at him, especially Piatek. Both Higuain and Piatek did better on a per game basis. Cutrone took a whole season…. 43 games … to score 9 goals. Higuain did 8 in half the games and he left mid season and Cutrone could only score 1 more than him, with most of his goals not even in the league. Piatek came and did better than in half a season as well. Cutrone had major limitations, mainly his speed.
Cutrone right now, in his prime, only scored 8 goals for your favorite team, Como, last year. Never scored more than 10 goals in a top league since he left Milan. And is on loan to your favorite ham Parma.
You like to talk about “mythical” strikers, how about the reality striker that Cutrone is, which is nothing special.
If anything I’m surprised you’re not even angry we let Aubameyang go.. where’s that energy?!. At least he tore up a few top leagues since we let him go.

Torriani should push to leave
Mike’s time is up unfortunately. There’s no chance he stays beyond this year. The question is do they lose him on a free or sell him this winter for peanuts?
Place your faith in Torriani and push him forward.
They should have sold to Chelsea for 15M in the summer. All this drama just to sell him for 4-5M in January, or lose on a free in the summer. Torriani should be starting already. They see him as “one for the future”? Donnarumma was starting at 16. Torriani is already 20 and has shown he can be relied on. Let him play all the games Maignan is missing!
