Maldini reveals Ancelotti’s words after the UCL draw: “See you in Istanbul”

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan got a favourable draw in the Champions League and although it’s an unlikely scenario, some are dreaming about the final. And Paolo Maldini has revealed what Carlo Ancelotti said after the draw.

Milan will face Napoli in the quarters (first leg on Wednesday) and should they make it past the Partenopei, then they will face Inter or Benfica in the semis. The draw really did all Italian teams a favour, in other words.

Milan have every right to dream about the final, as Paolo Maldini recently stated, and he also revealed what Real Madrid manager and former Milan manager Carlo Ancelotti said about the draw.

“Do you know what the problem is? Ancelotti, who is now at Real, also has unfinished business in Istanbul [where the Champions League final will be played]. Immediately after the draw, he called me: ‘Paolo, see you in Istanbul, yes?'”, Maldini stated.

As said, the first leg of the quarters will take place on Wednesday and Milan will begin at home. The second leg will take place a week later and given the Rossoneri’s 4-0 win against Napoli last weekend, they might have a slight advantage.

  1. One thing is to lose against real madrid in a potential cl final which i wouldnt like to begin with as they created a huge gap in ammount of cl victories in the last decade but also losing against ancelotti in a cl final would be a tough pill to swallow. Regardless it woud be a great accomplishment just reaching it to begin with.
