CM: Why Daniel Maldini’s departure was not a ‘final goodbye’ for Milan

Daniel Maldini left AC Milan in the summer mercato, and there were some questions at the time. With the youngster impressing for Monza, and earning a call-up to the Italian National Team, the question has been reopened.

Cesare, Paolo, Daniel – the Maldini name is synonymous with Milan, and it can be argued that for this reason, the youngster had to leave. Playing for the Rossoneri adds pressure to any player’s shoulders, let alone the shoulders of a 23-year-old.

Now, just a short distance away, the midfielder is blossoming, and he is writing his own words in the Maldini story. However, there is a possibility that he will return to add more to a previous chapter.

This morning, Calciomercato.com stated that ‘the Milan fan’ faces a conflict. A joy of seeing their former players perform well, but a sorrow in the fact that they no longer do so in the Rossoneri shirt. For Maldini, though, there is a route back.

There is a ‘preferential channel’ with the Biancorossi – the Diavolo have a ‘priority clause’ if the midfielder is approached by another club. Alongside this, there remains the 50% sell-on clause.

The report also states that Maldini is attracting interest from several clubs, and among them is Juventus – we also know that Inter have been keeping tabs on his situation.

  1. Ac Milan need some Brazilian flair which can be brought by Noni madueke do cam who can create spaces between defenders

    1. Why? Where in this team does Brazilian flair come in? We aren’t struggling in attack.
We need solidity in the back. And we already have a Brazilian flair there. The useless royal..
We need more solidity and grinta in the midfield. Brazilian flair, again, is utterly useless for that..

      1. Not to mention that Madueke is an English Nigerian who was bought for 35 last year and who regularly plays with success for Chelsea and recently got his international debut. No way we would buy him or at least not for what Chelsea would demand.

          1. I sorta liked the old Chelsea and City of the 1990ies when they was more workers clubs in England but those days are now long gone and dislike them both greatly.

  2. Its pointless. Milan didn’t gave him game time to develop when he needed it. While in the meantime they were playing Loftus for 40+ games while he was terrible in 99% in them. I would have rather watched young milanista struggle in those games and developing rather then some 27year old who couldn’t care less. Same situation with Origi/Colombo. This club prefer high paid trash players over their own youth simply cause of stupid diversity.

    1. Exactly… The so called serie a big teams tend to be averse to using/ young italians, who tend to do well in under tournaments but eventually disappear later on..

  3. This club hasn’t been relaying on our youth system for over 15 years. Probably over 20.
Why would they start now? Because his last name was Maldini?

Whining heir isn’t completely wrong when he posts extensive lists of players we let go and are flourishing elsewhere..
    It’s a waste.
I always wanted us to develop and play our talents. We never do.

  4. we have maldini here and liberali coming up but there is d rumour we want an argentine kid worth 40mil who is 18.we will still not be able to give him necessary patience and chances then ship him out on loan and then sell to where he will flourish and we go back to same circle.our youth system is becoming useless i wonder why they are even buying players into it if we wont give them chance.well to sell them on though

  5. I hope he goes to Inter or Juve and has the type of success he deserves. Milan deserve what they get and unfortunately so do the fans. At least I got to see a Scudetto recently thanks to Maldini and Massara!

      1. Why because the current Milan clown show of a management who buy mediocre players but can’t give Maldini a chance or some of our Primavera players a chance but hey we have RLC, Mussa and the great Royal. How this management have treated Maldini a champion of this club and a man with principles is a disgrace. Yet may of you keep supporting this management and it’s continued destruction of this great club. At least other clubs want Maldini unlike Milan. Most of you here have stated he is good for X club but not for Milan. You can have it both ways.

        1. I couldn’t care less about this AC Milan ownership and management and always wanted us to keep his father and to use Daniel compared to the majority of people around here but to wish him to join Inter or Juventus is a completely different matter. I wish Maldini and all of his family all the best and hope they one day returns to the club and I also wish Daniel all the best in his career but not on the expense of the club I support which is AC Milan.

  6. What a shambles of a managenent ….. what utter confusion all round. Ibra, furlani and moncada are a pack of clowns …. sending kalulu away when we need a reliable defender and ….. giving him on a plate to juventus!!!!! Sending Adli and Maldini away …. having Bartesaghi, Jimenez and Terracciano and now apparently chasing a fiorentina flank defender!!!! Chasing an unknown boy scout from argentina …. chasing david from lille …. how comic … how sad …. how cheap …. how stupid!!!! How are the mighty milan fallen!!!!!

  7. The thing is even though Ruben was terrible last season he contributed to 12 goals. The loan should’ve been a dry loan. Our youth system has been a shambles for the past 20 years with the only success coming out of it being Abate, also after lengthy loan spells at Empoli.

    1. locateli came from our youth rank, cutrone did, calabria and donarumma.our problem is we dont know how to manage them.maldini has earned italy call up due to good performance with monza but mind u,he already started showing them here during preseason before we gave him out.its how u manage ur youths that make them flourish.u cant keep benching them and expect them to show or reach there potentials.some faith shud be shown in them.check issue of simic who was solid and helped us when all our starter defenders were out.he even scored but immediately they came back he was relegated back to youth team.and now gone

    2. Any one would score those goals if they are just standing at the edge of the box waiting for rebounds for 40+ games. But thats the point, no milan youth player would be tolerated for so long just so he can score a couple of goals from time to time while being compleatly invisible in so many games. Or let alone being paid 4mil for it.

  8. who is the best player in our youth division?

Z (as player): technically Daniel is the best, he play in in his group age just like play vs little kids

Z (as director): release him for free cz my boss doesn’t like his father
